Re: New Guy

I agree with comments above, with a few exceptions (below).

The Tudor Sedan was the most popular body style when these cars were new. The door is a bit wider, which helps with getting in and...

Re: Head light focus with out lens?

Can you post photos of the focussed High beam without the lens, and then with the lens? That would be helpful.

At night, on a wall...

Re: Head light focus with out lens?

You're correct. That's because a sealed beam already has a lens molded into the clear glass front, to put the correct pattern out on the road. Put a second Model A lens in front of that and it's...

Re: LED Headlights

I agree. I alluded to this change in my description, but it is better to be direct about it: These LED bulbs are not going to work properly in original Model A headlights that are from all of 1928...

Re: Ignition, way of

Werner, the full movement of the lever from top to bottom gives 40 degrees of timing advance when measured at the crankshaft. Check the side of the distributor. The arm that comes out must move the...

Re: LED Headlights

I'm sorry, but the above is not true for an original Model A Two-Light headlight reflector and original bulb. You need to do some more research on original bulbs and reflectors, not aftermarket...

Re: LED Headlights

How is "high beam" and "low beam" handled with these lights?

The photos online seem to show 8 LED elements on one side, perhaps both sides (hard to tell from the photos). Are they wired such...

Re: Help!! 1931 Model A Deluxe Tudor

Hi, Bob!

Welcome to the Ford Barn!

There is a reference book that you can buy that has the answers to these and many other questions about the Model A. I strongly recommend you buy one and use...

Re: OD power loss

I recommend you connect up a tach on the engine, even if just temporary, and measure/record some actual RPMs in 3rd gear at 55 MPH and then again after you engage the OD.

I also recommend you...

Re: Copying sections of Google Maps

Screen capture when map is up on your monitor.

Do a Google search for "screen capture pc" or "screen capture mac" for key strokes to do it.

On a PC it copies the screen to the clipboard, so you...

Re: Drum tail light LED

True. A good design. But they only work in the teacup style tail light housing. For the drum style tail light, you have to go with the ones mounted on a circuit board.

Re: Workings of the Dash Light....

The lighting on the gas gauge is not brilliant in either case. I am mostly looking at the speedometer at night, and sometimes the ammeter. I tend to know how far I can go on the gas I am starting...

Re: Workings of the Dash Light....

And positive ground?

That's why I stick to a conventional bulb with a filament.

Re: OD power loss

If your FSI distributor uses a centrifugal spark advance, and you no longer have the spark lever advance, that may be your problem. When you engage the overdrive, your engine RPM drops and the spark...

Re: Workings of the Dash Light....

Yup!

Which is why I use a 12 volt tail light bulb (3 cp) in the dash light of my 6 volt Model A!

It gives a nice glow at night on the instruments, not too bright in your eyes while driving, and...

Re: Water Temperature Gauge

It will work on any engine, any cooling system. That's not your problem.

You say it does not work. What does that mean? It never shows the engine getting warm?

You have put it in the "cold...

No, on Bring-a-Trailer, the buyer pays +5%.

Not too bad.

Re: Little Help with the Ignation wiring

If you are going to run 12 volts with a stock coil (or a coil designed for 6 volts) then, yes, you need to use a ballast resistor. The most common place to put it is in the wire between the terminal...

Re: Little Help with the Ignation wiring

Are you planning to wire the car with 6 volts or 12 volts?

Positive ground (as original) or negative ground?

Answer these 2 questions and I can help you wire it up correctly.
