Re: Front and Rear Spring Restoration

Snyder’s, Mac’s, and A Spring all have USA made springs.

There more money, but worth the extra cost.

Springs can and will break. We all have our own option on different things, but you can’t...

Re: Rear axle shaft nut, how to turn on

A few years ago, I had a Model A that we had to add a washer to the drivers side rear axel to be able to use cotter pin with nut. If you need to add washer, make sure itís steel.

Pulled drum,...

Re: Front and Rear Spring Restoration

I am not into fine point judging for my cars.

However, I do really like to admire a very well restored Model A. Different strokes for different folks.

Driving and enjoying the car is what gets...

Re: Starter hums will not turn engine over.

I would think that if two different starters both spin outside the car and than again in the car but do not engage the flywheel. Your bendix is mostlikely the first place to check. They do need...

Re: Introduction - from Syracuse, NY

Central New York is a great place to own a Model A.

Country roads everywhere, and the lakes.

We lived in Homer for 25 years. Got our 29 out of a barn in Virgil.

Go SU! Enjoy.

Re: front spring

When we put a new spring on the front of our 29 Sport Coupe it made a big difference.

My only recommendation is to spend a little extra and get a USA made spring.

While you have the front end...

Re: Check your fan blades

Picture looks very familiar. I think a lot of Model A owners can tell the same story, and have seen the same results. Enjoy.

Re: LeBaron Bonney Co.

I have sold two very successful businesses over the last 25 years. In each case the new owners ran them into the ground within a couple of years. New owners think they have a better idea of how...

Re: Starter cranks, then spins

On a cold start I have always advanced the hand throttle two positions. Try it, Iíve been doing it for 60 years. Enjoy.

Re: ORIGINAL FAN BELT restoration?

Rubber degrades with age. Bacteria and fungi along with drying out will make it useless. I think that it will break if given any tension.

NOS fan belt, hang it on the wall.

Re: 30 Model A oil pump installation

Please follow these instructions. You can get yourself into trouble very quickly.

The bolt holding pump in place should be there unless you have installed an oil pressure gauge. If gauge has...

Re: Why the Model A

There like Lionel trains.

If you still have your old train set from 60 or 70 years ago. You might also still have your first car from than to. Or at least one like it.

Memories, get back...

Re: Late 30 PU Motor VIN

Looks good to me.

I have had restamped blocks. You can tell they have been ground down, and the number stamping is different. Most don’t include the stars.

Re: Serial number size

Prior to 1954 there were no Vehicle Identification Numbers on cars regulated by the U. S. Government.

What we had was an unregulated system of manufactures putting what they sometimes called part...

Re: Serial number size

There is not a good answer here for 90 year old cars.

Prior to 1954 there was not a true standard for VINís on U.S. manufactured vehicles. The frame number was the norm. You can go on from there...

Have you...

Re: New to Model A

Now that the engine is free, change the oil before you try to start it. Open plug and let it drain overnight. See what comes out.
