FYI:
Stipe shocks are NOT SEALED ... The plug can be removed and shocks refilled.

At least that is true of the two sets that I bought.

IF temperature is below 40 or so AND the bendix was greased instead of light oil (think "3 In One Oil") it will not engage and just spin starter.

The thicker the grease the higher the temperature!...

The steel or cast pieces used with the rubber ball are many times different shape and NOT designed to work with the original hardware.

The VW Type III is also known as Fastback or Squareback and these are the shocks mentioned in post #3.

At least as important as seat belts is to be sure Windshield is NOT plate glass!!

In 1963 I read about Model As having safety glass installed at factory so when I replaced ALL of the plate glass...

They also know which repro parts are good and which not so good.

One or two seconds of choke is all that is needed. holding choke will flood engine.

THE GENERAL RULE on cold starts is if engine starts and dies right away you are too lean...

How do you read the gas gauge on the 28 - 29 with 12 volt bulb when I can not read it with a 6 volt bulb?

Dash light on 28 29 is located in different place from 30 31.

Just wondering ....

This thread is a TAPERED pipe thread!

If you screw a bolt into the hole the TAPERED threads will be damaged or maybe the casting will be broken.

Also if correct TAPERED fitting is tightened...

At first I was going to ask if the weather is cold outside, the grease inside column gets thick and rod drags when wheel is turned ... Then I remembered my visits to Darwin and Sydney Christmas 1968...
