Re: CB radio question

The easiest solution that comes to mind is use a 5 watt handheld connected to the mobile antenna. Hang the radio on the windshield opening nut.

Re: tell a Model A related story

My Last Drive.

While out driving around in my model A, I swerved to avoid hitting a deer, lost control and landed in a ditch, severely banging my head.
Dazed and confused I crawled out of the...

Re: Starved modified flathead

First off, that engine will absolutely run ok for initial checkout on gasoline with the jets you have. We will assume the throttle shafts are not worn excessively.
For final race tune main jets, you...

Has this ever happened to you?

You have a group of good model A friends you have socialized with for a long time.
One of them loses his wife to medical problems.
After awhile he marries again.
His new wife does not let him...

Re: Bad influence???

All of this brings to mind the very popular bumper sticker:

Re: Winfield grind on camshaft.

A far better choice would be a 1007B.
Short duration, HIGH rate of lift.
More torque at low rpm.

Re: Fitting new worm gear to steering shaft.

If the gear turned any color when heating, it won't last very long.
Those gears are normally pressed off and on with a fixture.

Re: Gear lube

There is the old saying, "the customer is always right" but when you hand him his change if you give him that "you sure are a dipshit" look, he will usually get the point. LOL

Re: Used camshafts

You can do anything you want.
You can run olive oil in your crankcase.
You can run 7up in your radiator.
You can run tap water in your battery.

You can mix new and used lifters on new and used...

Re: 51 8CM build.....The dreaded Cam Debate

Stick with the stock cam or the 53 EA at the most.
DO NOT put new lifters on a used cam.

Re: Realistic Driving In High Wind

Re: Rebuilding front spindles

Try Machinists Inc. on So. Michigan St. in Seattle.
They used to do metal spraying with Metco Sprabond #25.
Hard chrome is another option but likely more expensive.

Re: Making A parts with lathe

In 1960 we cut one bank off of a 283 Chev block to make a 4 cylinder engine for a midget race car.
We made the crank from a 6 inch round SAE6150 billet in a lathe.
The engine made 240 hp on the...

Re: Where can I get new lifters for my 337 Lincoln flathead?

It is a REALLY bad plan to put new lifters on a used cam, if
that is what you are doing.

Re: Is a lightened flywheel overrated? (I think so)

If an engine is out of balance, it is out of balance at all rpm from one to infinity, not just at 55-65 mph.
You feel the vibration at resonance or harmonics of resonance but the vibration is there...

Re: aluminum heads

The brand of heads has nothing to do with heating problems.
A properly built and installed flathead will not overheat
at idle or anywhere else in the operating range of the engine.
Almost all...
