Re: Trailering tips for protection

Anything over 2000 pounds is required to have trailer brakes in most states. In addition to trailer brakes, you also need a brake controller. U-Haul car trailers have surge brakes and do not...

Re: Trailering tips for protection

Burner31 gets it! Backing an A on a trailer is asking for trouble. I use a ShurLine hitch weight scale to determine the exact placement of my cars and use a removable stop so that their always in...

Re: Restored Nebraska Model "A" Is junk

Speedway Motors and the American Museum of Speed are in Lincoln, the capitol city of Nebraska. As a participant in the Speedster Reunion, I've toured the capitol and had lunch at Swanson Ford. ...

Re: 3.27 ring and pinion, anyone using one ?

I put a 3:27 in my roadster with a strong engine and found it wanting. Went back to a 3:54 and very satisfied with the performance. Too, I live in an area with 10,000’ passes.

Re: Towing a Model A

PM me...I recently bought an A chassis with a modification used by farmers to convert a chassis to a wagon. This appears to be a well designed accessory from the 1930's.

Re: Balancing

I have a ‘31 engine with counterweights and a lightened flywheel. The entire rotating assembly has been balanced and it produces 60 HP at the rear wheels at 3500 RPM. I would never build/rebuild an...

Re: stainless steel cleaner & polish

As the owner of a stainless steel Delorean, the best stuff is Sheila Shine that is carried by restaurant supply companies. No comparison to those listed above.

Re: Request for help with 28/28 Pickup

You can buy brand new 28-29 cab corners. Try Steve Becker at Bert’s Model A for measurements. His number is 800-321-1931. Closed Mondays. The ‘29 CCPU in my avatar has new cab corners that were...

Re: Worst Cars of All Time

Dan Neil jumped from the LA Times, where he won a Pulitzer, to the WSJ. Like most automotive writers when they write something for the non automotive media, he took money from TIME with his tongue...

Bought the cab corners, upper and lower back panels form Bert’s. Be sure and order the trim pieces that go between the cab corners and back panels.

Re: Tire wheel balancing: is it needed ?

I balance the wheels and drums as a package. Aftermarket drums need to be balanced. I suspect that most ‘barn readers never give it a second thought. FYI, it took 12 ‘35 wire wheels to get 4 good...

Re: HP & Torque For Various Cylinder Heads

Bob’s Numbers don’t have info on intake, exhaust, ignition or cam specs. The A in my avatar was run on the chassis dyno during the Speedster Reunion two years ago and produced 59 HP at the rear...

Re: HP & Torque For Various Cylinder Heads

Probably the best head is Larry Brumfield’s. However, it looks like Jim Brierley’s new head is a contender.

Re: Keeping Tailgaters Off Your Back

I’m in the club that says if you can’t keep up with traffic, pull over or take a different route. Depending on the state, one can be pulled over for impeding traffic by driving under the speed...

Re: Install disconnect between 1 and 2, or 3 and 4?

First off, put it in a convenient place so you can use it without opening the hood. I’ve put it on the ground side in RV’s, boats, hot rods and Model A’s.

Re: I've found a legitimate reason to use a 12v alternator on a Model-A

As a long time off roader, I really appreciate heated seats. They will drain a battery if not wired through the ignition switch. Ask me how I know!
