Re: need my transmission rebuilt

There was a transmission repair booklet by Max Navarro .......I am not him. Not sure if you had me confused with him or simply misspelled my name. So, thanks I think. :)

Re: need my transmission rebuilt

This is a good time to talk about the transmission rebuild business. I’ve had this discussion in bits and pieces with other car owners over the years, but it bears a complete talk. I wrote my repair...

Re: Vacuum Line Messed up

Once the special nut has been tightened down, it clamps itself around the tubing. It’ll rotate (to be able to tighten or loosen) but won’t pull off the tubing. We stock the nut (p/n 351112-S). You...

Re: 1939 Ford Transmission DON'T......

We’ve seen worse.....much worse. I wouldn’t lose a lot of sleep over the small flaw in your cluster gear. Maybe dress the edges of it to reduce the chances of it breaking away.

Re: BB clutch

We have the BB type pressure plates in stock. You would use the regular 9” clutch disc with it.

Re: New Carpenter Carb.?.

We’ve been selling them for about 3 years. Had only one returned and its only problem was that it was run with dirty fuel. These are all run on a test engine (and adjusted accordingly as needed)...

Re: Newer Overdrive in a 50 Ford?

Ford changed the input shaft from 10 splines to 23 splines in 1958 so the clutch disc would need to be changed. The 1959 overdrive transmission is almost certainly the T-86 top loader trans which...

Re: Leaking transmission 47 monarch

The retaining pins on the two shifter levers were swedged in by Ford and are typically very difficult to remove. This job is best accomplished by putting the housing in a sturdy vice, grinding off...

Re: 3 bolt-2 bolt dizzy adapter parts

We have the little brass fittings that go on the end of the vacuum tubing. It slides on to the fresh tube then compresses onto it when tightened down. I forgot the thread size but we just got a...

Re: R10 pawl and blocker ring

Is this on a Ford application? If so, we have plenty of those springs. I’ve never taken one apart and discovered a loose fitting spring. Perhaps someone installed the wrong one before you obtained...

Re: R10 pawl and blocker ring

The “blocker ring “ you referred to will allow the pawl to slide into one of the six slots in the balk gear when things are aligned for that to happen. The ring itself has to have a bit a tension...

Re: Water pump removal help

The socket extractor tool should do the trick. Tap it tightly onto the old bolt head before attempting to turn it. Those things work a wonder. Looks like your old bolt still has plenty of meat left...

Re: Oil Pan Question?

Gary, it’s apparent that you’re working with a 49-53 late style block. The reasons for using this truck oil pan would be because
A) you’re putting the motor together for a 48-52 Ford truck.....or ...

Re: Overdrive experts I need some help.

Try to look over every single wire involved with your overdrive harness.....look for loose terminals, rubbed through insulation where it could be shorting out against sharp metal edges, etc.

A...

Re: Head Gasket Question

Anything above .080” overbore will require the use of “big bore” cylinder head gaskets. We stock them (in the BEST brand) in regular composite material or the copper clad gaskets. They’re both a bit...

Re: Borg-Warner Overdrive

I’d try to locate the correct version for your 51 Ford. The 57 Ford passenger OD trans is longer, which in itself would require a new or modified driveshaft. The front of the trans would bolt up to...

Re: 36 ford transmission shifter very slopy

I suspect that you meant to type that you have a 68-7222 shifter housing. This could be used on your 32-35 gearset with one change. You would have to replace the B-7100 low/rev gear with a 67-7100...

Re: 36 ford transmission shifter very slopy

The hole in the top of the shifter tower is somewhat difficult to repair if it’s worn but it’s doable. We have the repair tips for the lever itself here:

Re: Transmission question from a novice

If your flathead six is the 1941-47 G series, you have to use the gearbox case made for this motor. If you have the 1948-51 H series flathead six, you would need the stamped steel bell housing made...

Re: 32 v-8 starter installation with the new modern bendix

Or remove it and replace it with the USA made Ford style bendix ......which fits perfectly into the opening. This is what we do with them. We also sell the bendix drive assembly separately.

We stock them.....it’s made to fit the regular passenger car transmission but will fit the short pickup trans like you have by trimming it down about an inch and a half. They have the same knuckle...
