Re: Identifying a Ford generator

No part number on the body. However, there's a code stamped in the body. that code will tell you what year and month the body was manufactured.
From the photo you'd posted, that's a late '40 pulley...

Re: 30 amp generator vs 55 amp

The "big" genny for '40 fit perfectly as per the photos I have of police vehicles so equipped back then. I can't speak for other years.

Re: Correct location and Colour of V8 Badge on 1934 Fords

Yep, she's a sweetie indeed. I did rebuild the driveline from one end to the other to make this car very roadworthy. Amazingly, when I got this car, the tires (tubes) held air. When I removed the...

Re: Correct location and Colour of V8 Badge on 1934 Fords

Mercman, The photo I've attached is the 34 coupe I'd found a few years back. It had been sitting in one spot since 1949.
I am fairly confident the grille and (blue) emblem were authentic to the car.

Re: 1939/1940 Horn Suppliers

Thanks Dave. That sheds the most proverbial light on these yet. I don't recall seeing them listed as a supplier in 40. However, my memory is not what it once was. I think...

Re: 30 amp generator vs 55 amp

I'm with Ross on this one. There was a "heavy duty" generator offered in 1940. It was primarily for police cars with a radio, extra lights, etc.

I have searched for one of those for decades but...

Re: 1939/1940 Horn Suppliers

Gary, In all my days, I've never seen a set from Schwartze.
Makes me wonder if they were a replacement.
I've not seen anything that stated they were a supplier to Ford in 1940.
I can't speak to...

Re: Changed The Weight Of My Oil

You're going to get as many differing opinions on what oil to use as there are belly buttons.
I was taught in school (GM) that most critical is to use what the manufacture recommends and stay with...

Re: Changed The Weight Of My Oil

Please stop using STP. It will cause more harm than good. Consider it "snake oil".

I'd personally rebuilt NUMEROUS engines in the past decades. It was always easy to tell what clients used STP by...

Re: 60hp

A friend of mine, Dan (rest his soul) put one in a Harley about twenty years ago.
It looked like the bike was born with that engine and trans. Sounded so cool.
Yeah, slow as heck but the cool...

Re: Heater in a 35 cabriolet

You won't find any factory photos as there was no such "animal" in '35. Thus, the installation will vary with exactly what heater you intend to install, the amount f effort you choose to expend and...

Re: 60hp

Perhaps just a bit off subject but if you are asking with the thought of utilizing one of these in a prewar Ford, you may want to rethink that.
These engines are dreadfully underpowered. They are...

Guys,
Just want to wish each and every one of you a safe and happy Thanksgiving.

Re: Mail order dual exhaust systems

Judging from the mixed reviews of both Red's and Waldron's, it appears to be a hit or miss kind of thing.
Either the system fits well or it doesn't.

Overall, I have been pleased with Waldron's...
