Re: SnyderÂ’s 6:1 head

I also get the part where you are "over it" but as an engine machinist speaking here, I will tell you that if the gasket is blowing in different spots, it is my opinion that the issue is NOT with the...

Re: Forming the front upper corner after welding

John, the best is going to be 19 gauge sheetmetal that is proper formed and TIG-welded into position. If you don't do this correctly now, it will haunt you throughout the rest of the restoration...

Re: Kwik Way Boring Bar Fixtures

While that is potentially a true statement, I tend to believe the bigger issue is many Model-A hobbyists do not want to pay for the time it takes a "good" machinist to do a quality job. The 'hacks'...

Re: Kwik Way Boring Bar Fixtures

While I don't use a bar micrometer on my LBM, I don't think you are going to be able to use the LBM mic on a KR Wilson bar.

Re: Kwik Way Boring Bar Fixtures

The vertical stanchions are actually called Bar Bearings by Kwik-Way, and they attach into the Bridge which has a form of a collect to hold the bar securely after being located.

As Jim suggests,...

Re: Chickasha Pre-War Swap Meet 2019 Roll Call

Depends, ...how early? Supposedly the cut-off is 1942 on parts, and it is predominantly a brass-era and Model-T type event however there is some 30's stuff that comes.

Re: 1930 ford 2 dr sedan rear side window

If you see rear windows rolled all the way down in a 30/31 Tudor, ...that likely means they won't roll all the way up. The reason yours won't roll down any further is because the bottom of the glass...

Re: Water Inlet Questions

Use JB Weld or a Kevlar-stranded body filler to 'bodywork' the rough casting where the hose will have a smooth surface to clamp to. This should do the trick. Try to avoid just using RTV as a way to...

Re: Splash aprons need replacement

The lower lip is a U channel on the original and a V groove on the reproduction.

Re: Rear axle housing repair sleeves not hardened

True, and each year Ford made improvements, -and if we follow the mindset of always wanting to make it better or make improvements, ...soon we are driving something that most call a street rod....

Re: Splash aprons need replacement

Fortunately I have been able to find good original aprons to use as samples to modify the reproductions. Also having a Pullmax with custom dies to reshape the lip helps save time also. One area that...

Re: Float a motor results

My father's cars used them during the 60's & 70's until we learned the adverse affects in other areas. I have removed sets from customer's vehicles, -but maybe this is the two thoughts I would have....

Re: Splash aprons need replacement

John, even the best available body aprons are only 'fair' at best. There is much work that must be done for the reproduction aprons to mimic originals in fit and form. The lip in the bottom is...

Re: Body to frame to help sagging doors

Jerry a lot of printed nonsense about door alignment is from "He said/She said" when frames were bent/sagging and when door hinges were bent or worn. IMHO you need to re-mount the body onto the frame...

Re: KR Wilson Main Bearing Reamer

Several options in this regard.

There are tool grinding shops that can sharpen reamers however it does alter the finish size. For someone doing their own crank work, the crankshaft can be welded...

Re: Cadmium Plating finish...

Steve, from my experiences the general consensus in F/P adjudication is bright-white plating.

Like many other original finishes that Ford used, they weren't always the best quality finishes that...

I really do not believe this is a factual statement from what I have learned however if someone is worried, then consider re-tempering it.
