Those type of cracks are extremely common and not a problem. Cracks to the cylinder wall and valve seats are when you have a problem.

Do a google search for corrosion inhibitor and you will find many options for spray on materials. I use Corrosion X for my airplane but there are options at the local auto store from CRC or LPS and...

If it is running good then I agree with the others and don't do anyting at all. Just drive it and enjoy. What I would do is occasionally redo the compression test and monitor it.

I think it would be worth running a test with the bug screen removed just to see what happens. If it doesn't help reduce the temp then you know the bug screen doesn't hurt airflow but if it does then...

Put the thermostats in. They allow the engine to operate at the correct temperature.
