I thumb through the Car Kulture and Hot Rod Deluxe magazines in supermarkets looking for Barn member cars. I knew I'd have to eventually see Frenchy's deuce.

Congrats and well deserved!!

Re: I Can't Stop My Clutch Chatter On My '53!

Excellent point. If the trans was brute force bench pressed in and left to hang by the clutch hub before stabbed into the pilot bushing/bearing it will likely bend the disc hub.

Re: I Can't Stop My Clutch Chatter On My '53!

As crazy as it may sound, if your engagement is now in the upper part of your pedal travel, readjust it to begin engagement 1" off the floor so it is fully engaged at half pedal travel.

Re: Quick sanity check - 41 pu headlamp wiring.

Mart, the harness crosses over in that channel on the backside of the radiator under the tubes. It's held in place by the folding tangs.

Re: Hauling a pickup.... Why SO difficult?

I've only done it once but I called a large nation-wide broker with my from-and-to and they gave me a nice low price. Their fee is flat rate off your credit card with the rest in cash to the driver....

Re: How To I.D. a Merc Flathead

And don't think the guys rebuilding those engines in large factory-authorized shops weren't putting in ford cranks and slipping the mercs out the door during a smoke break.

Re: Rebuilt Flathead Problems.

When I say "earlier" I mean '49 and '50 engines had the long springs with single piece retainers. When the timing issue is solved, the valve issue comes down to installed height. With a stock cam and...

Re: Rebuilt Flathead Problems.

Looks like the valves, springs and retainers are not compatible.

1. Those are not flathead valves with that much stem sticking out below the retainer.
2. The springs are upside down and are the...
