Re: K R Wilson Combination Machine

Yes, you beat me to that statement. Tool makers with cylindrical grinders can (re)sharpen a reamer and make it undersized, ...and many bedplates that were worn have been converted to an oversized...

Re: Your local club's best tours?

Since you are from the Cincinnati area, then you may be familiar with this particular tour but as I understood it, several years ago the local Model-T club (NoKen Ts??) held a tour to benefit someone...

Re: Proper crankshaft grinding

Joe, I hope you don't get mad but I'm going to offer a little different perspective on what you have stated, -with the exception of your last paragraph which I think is true.

(1) I'm not sure...

Re: Flywheel ring gear pin

A stock flywheel with a reproduction ring gear is actually installed with a 0.0015" interference fit. The ring gear is heated and then slipped onto the flywheel so that when it cools, it will shrink...

Re: O-ring groove in flywheel housing

Ok, I now see where you are coming from on the 6 bolts. The 'warpy housings' actually are caused by the driveline. The rear wheels/tires push the vehicle thru the rear axle housings and along the...

Re: Interesting read in Hemmings about restoration costs.

Yeah, you can almost stake your life on not being able to have one restored in 6 months. They only do that type of thing on TV shows!! :D

Using your analogy of a 30-40 year old restoration that...

Re: O-ring groove in flywheel housing

What 6 screws? A Model-A engine block only has 4. Did you machine the cylinder case for two additional bolts?

Also, even in a pressurized scenario (-which the Model-A block is not) the...

Re: Radius Ball

In looking at the print and studying the design, my opinion is the springs really are not there to allow movement but are there to avoid catastrophic failure in the event of a sudden impact such as...

Re: Interesting read in Hemmings about restoration costs.

Ironically, when you go back and consider many of teen-era and earlier automobiles, those were "throw away cars" also. The technology that was coming on each subsequent year's automobile made them...

Interesting read in Hemmings about restoration costs.

I have repeatedly stated here that skilled labor is becoming too expensive in this country. The reverse side of this is many hobbyists undervalue what a restored Model-A costs simply because they...

Re: Club Thinning

I'm not saying that I disagree with your comment in red, but my differing thoughts are based on me being involved in the Model-A hobby for all of my life of nearly 60 years. My father was a...

Re: Making an A axle steer easier

An improperly shimmed spindle bolt bearing will make one very hard to steer. Make sure the load of the spindle is actually being supported on the spindle bolt bearing, -and not the spindle rubbing...

Re: Original coils. Can they be rebuilt?

Gary, John Holland was the guru on rebuilding these but as I understand it, he no longer has cores. I have wondered about having a new spool wound and then pot it in epoxy. I would start by calling...

I agree with you on scrubbing it off with soap & water, ...but rub your hands together with some thinner, acetone, or gasoline on them and watch what happens.

That is Mitch that is selling it in that auction. I mentioned contacting him in post #3. He is the Administrator of the Forum that is mentioned in the eBay listing.

That very well may be true. Tom was a promoter and also had "great pride in himself". If this is the same car, -and it appears to be, then my distinct recollection is he told all of us he built it....

I realize this is probably redundant to even mention but do understand that the function of the distributor itself as it relates to a cylinder head (-high compression or not) is nothing more than...
