Re: Brake flaring tool & tube straightener suggestions

It all depends on if you use "cunifer" or steel. When I was using my "Old Forge" flaring tool, about 1 in 5 leaked and I had to do them over, sometimes a couple of times. Now I have no such problem....

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

Confirms what I have concluded. Thanks, "Pete". It means a lot coming from you.

I was kinda surprised that an old "cam grinder" would be so "up" on advanced mathematics, but once I thought about...

Re: 8ABA engine distributor?

This post tells me something. "jrvariel" has a specific purpose to his build and knows what he needs. "Derek Costello", on the other hand, has not given us any information about the vehicle he has or...

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

There was an article about 15 years ago in the EFV8 club magazine that baddressed this exact issue. It looked good to me, but there was a lot of resistance to the process. I don't exactly remember...

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

"34fordy" - Just curious; have you had your coil rebuilt or is it original?

Re: Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

"Terry OH" posted a link to an article concerning this on my previous thread. You are correct in saying that the optimum capacitance varies with RPM. I will be doing some additional research on this,...

Re: Header Suggestion

WOW! Those things are HUGE. Just for conversations sake, I have always heard that working on the intake ports on a flathead yields more and better results than working on the exhaust. Do you agree...

Discontinuing search for .33 micro-farad capacitors.

For the last three years, my partner and I have been trying to find a .33 micro-farad capacitor to be used in our units under certain circumstances. Recent research has yielded enough information...

Re: No slip license plate bolts-Any other vendors?

I looked at the picture and it looks like those could be made easily out of some acorn nuts and a file.

Re: 1949 6 volt coil

Murre,

That's probably the best and simplest explanation I have run across. Good job!

I can add that if you try to run too much voltage on the secondary ignition system on a flathead (an MSD...

Re: Brake flaring tool & tube straightener suggestions

With the new "cunifer", you may want to re-think that.

Re: Battery purchase & best shut off location

You should check into the vendor before ordering one. When I bought my last one, some vendors would honor the warranty and some wouldn't. Hopefully you won't need to warranty the unit, but better...

Re: 8ABA engine distributor?

I like the aluminum timing covers. You can polish them and they weigh 5 lbs less than the cast iron cover. I run 'em when I can find 'em.

Re: Header Suggestion

By the time the exhaust pulse gets from the valve, through the block, and out the port, it's already seen more restriction than any OHV there is. The shared center port certainly doesn't help, like...

Re: Header Suggestion

I've had Fentons on two cars and really liked them. One thing Ron is correct about is that they will last forever. I pulled an engine in '2016 that had a set of Fentons that I installed in '87. Good...

Re: Engine diaper

I would disagree with anyone who says that properly assembled 8BA's leak.

Re: Model B Fuel Pump HYGRADE fp-159

All of this tells me that you should work with Charlie. Otherwise, you will end up with a non-standard setup that will cause problems down the line. Fix it right and fix it once..

Re: Need for early condensers?

A capacitor with the values I would like to have do not fit in my "trash can" case, much less a case that would fit into a '33-'36 distributor/coil (or a '37-'41 for that matter).

As to...
