Look for a small "button" on the top of the flat metal piece. Push it down and pull the knob/shaft out.

You have to remember, a lot of the coverage is for comprehensive, which protects your vehicle from storms, fire, vandalism, theft, etc while stored away.

Don't use poison. I found quite a few dead corpses in the spare tire well of one of my cars when I put poison out a few years back. They had been there for a while by the smell.
