Several things can cause a shimmy or death wobble . The only thing that has ever caused shimmy on my model A's was improper toe in . The toe in should be set for 1/16 toe in at the front .

I would probably try to find a better lid and sell the one that you now have . I welded and hammered out 19 large bullet holes in my roadsters rumble lid rather than run the risk that a new repro...

The model A&B cam shafts are forged steel not cast iron like most later cams. Its not likely that a forged cam could or would break .

If it was mine I would remove the transmission and replace all of the bearings and the shaft that the cluster gear bearings ride on . check the gears for pits . Usually if it doesn't jump out of any...
