Engine dates are a different subject. I have seen that information.

There was no AA headlamp support rod. The AA's used the A chassis rod. Commercial A and AA chassis converted to the new 1930/1931 style rod in June 1930.

FYI - There were three AA panel type trucks (85-B, 210-A, 300-A) - see http://aafords.com/closed-bodies/. Not many of any exist today. 85-B is the most common.

Ronn - To be able to order drawings of the parts (and thus get dimensions), you need to have the Ford part names as indicated above. Hopefully you can search the MAFFI data base using the part names...

Actually, your pickup truck consists of a pickup body and a cab. The cab roof wood is what you are looking for. Most likely your cab is a closed cab which is type 82-A. Roof wood parts numbers are...

I did some more research and found that the original top hinge rod is about 1/64th less than 3/8" diameter. And yes, this hinge was a seemed tube.

Vendors sell 3/8" diameter stainless steel solid...

Hood Center Rod Diameter

Anyone know the diameter for the center rod for a hood? I am guessing it is 3/8" (.375"). But, the one rod I have seems to be slightly smaller.

Thanks Terry, I found the picture and the Auveco clamp. It looks like I could use the clamp on my existing perimeter wire. It has one clean break.

I have a donor spring. I can cut a length of edge wire and splice it to the broken wire. Thanks for the help.

JW, Are you saying that the entire perimeter wire should be replace or just use a piece of wire to make a splice?

What are your thoughts about using a wire feed welder to hold the small piece of tubing or a splint?

I have never had luck trying to braze.
