Model A Ford GAZ carburetor

What might an unrestored original Russian GAZ Model A carburetor be worth on the market today. Hummm, been in a collection for a long time now.
All estimates/opinions welcomed, just wondering!...

Hey Bob - What would I listen for, valve leak, or ? Then what else. sounds like a lot of work to check for bad valve. Isn't there some other way. How about leak down. Wet the cyl w'oil to check...

Looking for opinions - compression low on 2 & 3

Engine low power still starts and idles good. Compression test show cyl 1 -> 4 as 65, 55, 45, and 60. What are the more likely issues? Head gasket between 2 & 3? Valves? Or????

Idle mix and compression, good ideas. Two I'd not thought of. Was focused on electrical.

New upper dist body and rotor. Not idles really good now but hesitates to take throttle, running kinda rough coming up in RPM to fast idle +. Hummm, is it time to address fuel demand problem?

Engine runs rough. While at fast idle I ground tested each cyl and #3 spark was intermittent/absent. All others had stead/regular spark to ground .I replaced the spark plugs with new W16, then the...

Purchased my 1931 Tudor in May 1994. Went to MVA for title search and they produced 12, all the way back to March 1931 in SW Baltimore, MD. This A has never been titled outside the state of MD....

My "rub" with some modern points is they have a "soft" rubbing block that wears away on the cam. It looks like maybe Teflon that shortens the life as the dwell continues to change. I test the block...

All good advise. The only thing I'd add is if you do use a wrench on the brass fitting that you make sure to use a box wrench of proper fit/size, the brass is indeed soft.

Hand throttle notches

My 31 Tudor has never been restored but well maintained. The body + interior parts are all original.
Problem - the notches on the hand throttle are pretty much worn flat.

Rear brake drum studs repl

How difficult is it to replace the wheel studs in the rear brake drum? Tools required, etc. Are there some replacement studs better than others?

Thanks Larry, sounds like too soon to really tell. Both

the rear wheels brake the same (new drums). I'll wait for "seating/brake-in and check the temps again. Coasting at slow speed is really good so shoe drag is hopefully minimum an brake-in shouldn't...

The temperature was in the mid 80s when I took a test drive with new rear cast iron drums installed. Gone for maybe 20 minutes driving around the neighbor hood, stop and go,and then a mile or so...

I finally purchased rear cast iron brake drums for my 31 Tudor. What finish is appropriate to protect from rust and what preparation processes works best for cleaning, etc.?
