Newer Optima batteries are now apparently made in Mexico. You might check Amazon and read poster's feedback there to get an idea of satisfaction.

Just last month I was swayed to sell to a fellow in Perth. A one pound item cost $25.+ which included tracking only in the USA and no insurance. I sweat it out but after two weeks the item arrived....

First:

The new 8ba crank is in, checked out plastiguaged @ .015, so all is A-OK so far & turns freely with assembly lube.
The crank gear is installed with the proper small key.

Have a block marked C8BA, so I assume "C" indicates that it is a Canadian vintage. It has sleeves and hard seats. The only cracks are similar to those in the images--no others visible around the...

Help removing front oil galley plug--8BA!!

That front plug just above the cam is frozen, like welded in. I tried to remove it with an allen wrench but it sort of eggated out & did not budge.

I have always soaked rusted bolts in Kroil...
