Use soluble oil and water , it cools better and doesn't carry the abrasive through the pump like oil does . I have the same machine as you, got it in 1962

If you break the ground the complete system is dead. Not so if you break the hot.

In a positive ground system the negative terminal is hot. The hot terminal is the ungrounded one.

Because they don't have a ground wire to put a switch in.

If you put it in the ground side nothing is hot , If you put it in the hot side the hot post and the cable going to the switch are still hot when turned off.

On the left front of the case is an 1/8" pipe plug , put a pressure gage on it and see what the pressure is when it wont move. Bill

Lift the upper lever so they are parallel/even with each other, that is neutral.
You probably bumped the lever and knocked it into first gear.

We replace these in the vehicle all the time.
Just use a hammer and punch or chisel and cave the steel shell inward like was stated earlier.

Is there an oversize stamped on the top of the piston? An .080 piston would measure about3.265.
Sounds to me like you,ve got an .0825 oversize bore and pistons.

Sounds like that block was bored for .0825 pistons, They were a replacement for the "tin can sleeves" back in the day.

Coop is right , Pinion bearings. Anytime you have howl or growling noise on deceleration you can bet its pinion bearings,

When I worked in my Dads shop in the 50s you had a choice between permanent anti freeze or alcohol. Alcohol boiled off and you had to keep adding to it. Permanent cost twice as much but you didn't...

Don't use a straight blade adjustable reamer, they are hard to cut a smooth finish with.
Get a precision spiral blade reamer with the long pilot like the Model A vendors sell.
