Roy at one time had #12’s with a #10 head which was slick, and had oversized head screws as well. He ran out of both a few years ago and they have been obsolete ever since.

Jim the only thing better would be a 11a helmet in my opinion. I’d much rather have a 68 or 11a helmet over a crab! And as you well know many think the crab is the u it to have, but a 11a helmet...

Gotta be careful with “some” of the store bought etching solutions as some aren’t compatible with the stencils and some can damage paint if accidentally it were to come in contact with it

Graham, I just pm’ed you. The activator and etching cream both have a shelf life so check the etching cream to insure it is still good. If it is not I will gladly mail you more.

Ive been there and tried that! I was too cheap to have them sonic tested, and ruined a NOS pair of hard to find heads. They now reside above a doorway in my shop so that I can blurt out a few curse...

Regardless, the original poster got some great suggestions and varying opinions. Cleaning works great, vapor honing and reskinning being the best options, and lastly paint (original posters question)...

I’ve seen zero heating issues out of a car with painted heads vs not. Powder coating... sure... spray paint no (think about the radiator). Actually this way of thinking is opposite of what dart...

Jim on these I use a 7/16-14 tap and literally thread the bushing and run the tap against the housing and it lifts it right out. Usually a old one Is removed and a new one in in less than 60...
