Re: Burned up in California

Flathead Fever is doing what a number of large corporations do, Self Insure.

In other words his loss can only be related to his cost, if a rare car cost him 800 bucks, his total cost is his...

The only way would by the bottom of your piston has disintegrated.
If this has...

Re: !933 Four Cylinder

I have seen this before, I was of the understanding the very first prototypes of the Model 40 were based on the 32 wheelbase, I think this is why this gets repeated,
112" for the 33 up to 40 cars,...

Re: Perplexing '36 steering problem?

Camber of the road depending on the severity will make you want to turn to the left slightly to go straight, how does it go in a shopping centre car park

Re: Tech: Rear axle bearing sleeve replacement. My efforts.

Nice job.

I was going to do mine on a lathe and was talked out of it due to the accuracy required, so I had the surface precision ground and the sleeves pressed on.
The heating and bending of the...

Re: Front pan hard bar on cross steer dropped axle?

A dead perch only allows the axle to move in one direction.
Panhard bar set horizontal at ride height allows the suspension to operate normally with little or no movement side to side.

Re: car leans can the springs be fixed?

Once you are happy that the spring is OK, lubricated and located correctly and it still has a slight lean, you can add a wedge of steel between the cross member and spring.

Re: FE engine designation

FE 332,352,390,427 and I think the 428 are of the 352 series of engines, embossed on the front of the block.

I had an FT 390, medium duty truck engine (car crank) that had a mirrored 105 (501)...

These have flatter profiles.
Typically your geometry of your drag link and tie rod link should be as close to parallel in both...

Re: Pannard Bars?

A panhard bar does not hide suspension problems.

A panhard bar prevents the sideways movement of the suspension system allowing the car to ride better and be stable under hard cornering.

This...
