I've been running a "crab" distributor in my 39 for 25 years. Got over 60,000 miles on it and after going to the .025 plug gap to keep the cap from developing small cracks, Have never had a moisture...

Re: Pre 1945 Block Cams

Re: 1948 Ford 12 volt coil issues

Need to take the measurement at the distributor. You want a coil with about 3.5 ohms resistance.

Re: Pertronix Nightmare

The pintle in the PCV must have been stuck or gone. It's supposed to limit flow at idle.

Re: Timing an 8ba

A hotter cam is always going to idle better with more advance. As long as you're not getting any detonation, you're good to go. It would be nice if someone could come up with a crab style distributor...

Re: intake valve seals??

Engine vacuum will draw oil up through loose guides. Don't think it's worth worrying about.

Re: 59ab compression numbers

Your compression is not great, but good enough that it shouldn't cause a problem running. I assume you've checked the coil and condenser, the usual suspects. If it's running bad, try pulling the...
