Re: New member, new owner, 1941 pickup with driveability issues

Gas pedals on these vehicles were meant to be used with a foot rest beside the pedal. Without using that, it is difficult to maintain a steady throttle speed.

Re: 3.54 and a Columbia?

I tried a 3:78 with a columbia several years ago with a good 60 over 59AB and it worked fairly well with 750 15s in a 40 cpe. Engine was truly extremely quiet. That was before interstates so there...

Re: 36 rear end in a 34 chassis?

Different and different. Spring on a 34 is v shaped and closer to the rear end tt and ds on 36 is longer. There are 34 pieces around especially where butchers have been at work.

Re: 60HP vs 85HP generator and coil

I believe the gen housing is the same as a 85, the pulley is a smaller diameter and the 60 fan does have an extension on it. I am pretty sure I have a 85 gen on the 69 in my 39.

Re: Is this original engine?

Made in Canada heads were alum., at least part of them and high comp. knock off heads were built in the US. A normal US built 24 stud would have cast iron heads. 36's had 21 studs with water pumps...

Re: Beautiful Lincoln in Spain

Absolutely beautiful!! Would like to know the history of it. Shows 44K mileage. That is a really neat radio also. The car almost looks like it has never been restored, just preserved carefully.

Re: Flathead engine assessment

Put it to a road test, that will tell you if its going to heat and by all means put even a temporary mechanical oil gauge. I am with GB on this one, nobody would have such a nice car and not have...

Re: No Shipping

I shipped some parts, two pkgs thru USPS to France last week and both have arrived in France as of this morning. That is faster than I can get something that is whipped from the west coast to here.

Re: Magneto question

Be very careful not to induce dc voltage to your mag. If unsure, I would disconnect the mag ware from the hogshead. The t will run fine on 12v. Value depends on completeness, originality,...

Re: Phaeton top rest question

The rest itself is a threaded on one end rod. It has a saddle with a set screw that clamps to the rod. Both are available from the vendors and you could make the rods.
