Re: crash
Well, if you have no permanent damage to yourself (which I REALLY HOPE), that is most important. Truly sad. I wouldn't think a Suzuki could harm an old Ford that seriously which should have...

Re: 1937 to 1941 replacement drag link
Mike, you know I posted that in jest! In fact, there probably isn't anyone alive that knows more about O1A cars then you! You literally wrote the book! I wonder how many of us 40 owners would...

Re: LH 1940 Convertible "Peep Mirror"
Looks good. I put clamp on ones on my 33 phaeton top irons and they give me a bit of confidence while driving. I also used 3" mirrors and a convex one on the right side. I didn't have to drill any...

Re: Winfield Tool KRW Hub Puller
My question is how can that puller work if it doesn't push on the end of the axle? My real KRW puller has a nut that screws onto the end of the axle to push against. Is that what was being talked...

VERY FEW will ever get the opportunity you did to share that ride with your dad with that exceptional vehicle with all that family history. Congratulations on achieving your objective!

Re: spacer for a 39 flathead fan
I have a 19A fan that is about 3/4" longer then the 91A, maybe you could look for one of them if that is the distance you need (or PM me if it would work for you, I would sell it)

Re: TIG welder recomendations
I have an older Airco Idealarc TIG machine that was used on building a nuclear powerplant that never operated in this state. Got it really cheap with a full large bottle of argon. The nuke cooling...

Re: Cam clean-up?
I would think to be usable it would need to be reground. Probably could be done to 8CM specs. Cam Grinders is in Seattle, Delta in Tacoma. Might be cheaper to find a better one.
Good Luck!

Re: welded crankshaft oil holes
After blowing the picture way up, I do see that the stock plugs are there and like Mart said, is just staked with a chisel. Without enlarging the picture it looks like a bad weld and since the OP...

Please supply a picture of the "middle one" so we know what you are referencing. What you show welded up are where there originally were plugs from drilling the crank for oil passages to the rod...

Re: Thermostats, To Use or Not to Use
My flathead in my avatar roadster doesn't run well until it is above 150. I don't even try to drive it until it gets there. Running 180 stats and it RARELY goes above that to 190. It is my opinion...

Re: Carpenter's trunk lids (quality) 1940
Wow, I haven't had to look for 40 parts now that my coupe is done and my convertible is gone. I didn't know DC had the convert lid made too. I don't remember B.O.B. listing that when he had the...

Re: Carpenter's trunk lids (quality) 1940
I don't think they ever made a convertible lid. If they exist, Carpenter might have added it. For those that don't know, they are VERY different then a coupe, not just a shorter lid, curvature and...

The ground side of the circuit is just as important as the "Hot" side. Poor ground is like a dead battery. How old is the battery?

Re: 40 script battery oval
I too use a roller but, used a hard rubber one that didn't put paint down in the low parts. I think the roller I used is for inking blocks for printing.

Re: Canadian 1946-1948 Mercury 114
So if there are 4 more inches in the wheelbase of the US vs 47 Merc there must be differences in other sheet metal besides the very minor grille differences shown in the picture. Was it in the body...
