Re: FOG LIGHTS AND tURN SIGNALS on '39 Ford

I used fog lights from the pre-sealed beam era on my '38. I replaced the sockets to use 1157 bulbs and have parking and turn signals wired to them.

Re: 59A exhaust runner rust through?

GB, I'm always impressed by the common-sense solutions you come up with. I'm going to give it a try. I think I have a broken manifold to use.

59A exhaust runner rust through?

I came by a 59A engine and in tearing it down I found rust scales blocking one of the rear exhaust ports when I removed the exhaust manifold. Not knowing the history of the engine, I'm wondering...

Re: Will this work?

It looks like low spots on the lobe where the parkerizing didn't wear off.

Re: Driver Door Sticking

When I got my '55 Victoria it had a black, soft pad under the striker plates. They were gooey enough to allow the striker to move. I found some metallic looking pads with a rough finish on ebay. They...

Re: BW R10 governor

With the governor terminal grounded at the relay and the ignition switch on, have you checked for voltage at the solenoid terminal, both sides of the kick down switch, and at the solenoid?

Re: BW R10 governor

As Ken says, the kickdown switch is in the circuit that takes the ground to the relay. The wiring on the cars are old, and connections and wiring develop resistance. There are four connections on the...

Re: Fenton cast iron headers

Is there a way to distinguish between original and Speedway Fentons? I bought a set about a year ago that a man took off his '40 Ford and the left manifold had a groove ground out to clear the dip...

Re: Vacuum guage

If it is running now, it should run when repositioned. When you reinstall the distributor with the advance canister at he 12 o'clock position, point the rotor at the 6 o'clock position. Because of...

Re: 8ba into 39 pickup.

Thanks coopman, I apologize for being repetitive but I keep hoping someone will see a thread on this subject and know the answer. My '40 car had the truck pumps sitting down on the biscuit mounts....

Re: Vacuum guage

Your #1 piston is on the exhaust stroke when the rotor is as you describe. If you turn the engine one revolution, you will be on the compression stroke and the rotor will point to the #1 wire in the...

Re: 8ba into 39 pickup.

I'm wondering why a stock '39 pitman arm works with the truck oil pan. I used a truck pan on my 8CM engine in my '38 car. I had to bend the arm down to clear the pan. It surprised me because I had a...

Re: 39 Mercury steering wheel light switch question

I would first suspect, as you stated, dragging in the steering shaft. This could be from a bent horn rod or maybe build up of grease, etc. The switch is at the bottom of the steering sector and the...

Re: The GREAT Ms. American 3.14159 Daily Driver Diary Caper

You said you had "pumped on the Brake Pedal a bunch of times" to make the brake lights come on. Maybe that forced enough fluid by to actuate the switch.

That round, hollow female terminal is commonly referred to as a "barrel terminal".

Re: The GREAT Ms. American 3.14159 Daily Driver Diary Caper

That is strange. You know there is power to the switch. The probability of three switches being bad is almost nil. I know it would be highly improbable, but I wonder if the passage to the brake light...
