Re: What's Behind Your Flattie?

I always heard that the weak link is the driveshaft pinion yoke on the stock rear end. I finally proved it a few years back (with a hopped up 226 six cylinder no less). I was 500 or so miles from...

I put one in mine in 1982. Same one, 30,000+ miles later, still working fine.

Re: 1951 Starter 6&8

I believe the 6 cylinder starters have a 9 tooth drive while the V8 starters have a 10 tooth drive. Check the part numbers.

Re: Michigan classic car laws help ?

I had a young city police officer stop me once and advised that my amber brake lights on my '31 slant windshield were illegal and the next time he saw me I'd better have red brake lights or I was...

Re: ford h series water pump

I just looked. Kanter Auto Parts lists them in their catalog. Do a search for "Kanter Auto Parts". They have a listing for 41 to 51 six cylinder.

Re: Honor flight

My late Dad, a WWII Navy Veteran took the flight from Dallas, Texas about 10 years ago. When he got back, he talked and grinned non-stop for a week!

Re: 51 F2 Engine Options

Keep the six. I don't have a truck but I do have a six in my '51 car. I've driven it over 45,000 miles since an overhaul without issue. I have a copy of a Mechanix Illustrated article where Tom...

Re: What strange comments or questions have you heard about your Model A

I was filling up my '31 Town Sedan with gas one day and an older gentleman came up to the car, looking it over inside and out, front to back. Throughout the inspection, he never said a word. ...

Re: OK! Let's get personal!

68 years old. Bought my "A" 38 years ago, ride my Harley as often as possible, and drove a '49 Ford Coupe 107+ mph at Bonneville Speed Week this year. Going back next year and go faster (I hope).

Re: Self/repair & rebuilding my "G" model flathead SIX

Watch e-b** for a nine tooth bendix. I've found two of them. Kanter still lists some G overhaul parts in their catalog.

Re: Flat 6

I found the intake at Pate Swap Meet in 1992. I built the header as described. Unless Red's starts making them again, nobody is making them commercially.

Finally got the car to Bonneville this...

Re: My 47 flathead SIX is tired, leaking oil out front crankshaft pulley

I got all my overhaul parts for my "H" six cylinder from Kanter Auto Parts, granted it was 19 years ago. Check with them for "G" parts. I seem to remember some listed in their catalog. All my parts...
