Re: Replacing Top on 1930 Tudor Sedan

Michael,

Be very careful with the epoxy wood preservative materials. Stuff like Get-Rot is very liquid, about like water, and could find its way onto the interior panels. If the outside edge of...

Re: Loose Closed Cab Side Mirror

Bud,
Re-read the second half of response #5 posted by Mr. Partain. That is by far the easiest solution to your problem.

Re: 1929 CCPU Top Assembly

Thank you to Rusty and Neil for the comments.
I will put the top together as it was originally designed by Ford.

1929 CCPU Top Assembly

I am building a 1929 CCPU and have completed the pieces for the wood top. I am considering putting the wood pieces together on the truck with some glue which would allow me to deal with the top as an...

Re: Floor Board Dimension Drawing

It should be noted that the floorboards for the earlier Model A's are different due to the location of the emergency brake handle. Battery access is also different.

Re: Sun visor 29 CCPU

Any trick to bending the tabs down after the cover is installed?

Re: CCPU Rear View Mirror

Neil,
The procedure that you outline is exactly what I did but I had to compromise on the lower weld as the bottom was not accessible. Poor welds is probably what contributed to so many failures but...

Re: CCPU Rear View Mirror

Normally the nut bar is welded inside the forward door post. If, for some reason, those welds fail the nut bar can drop down the door post behind the window escutcheon. In my particular case, the...

Re: CCPU Rear View Mirror

What is the preferred method for removal of the threaded bar that secures the mirror fasteners? I thought that mine was missing but it apparently dropped down when someone removed the sun visor.
I...

Re: 29 Tudor front seat question

The front seats on my 1930 Tudor are the same, t.e. they are interchangeable. I do not know for sure but my guess would be that the seats in the 1929 Tudor would also be interchangeable. Making seat...

Re: exhaust

Use the Aries clamp. It is not cast iron and will not break. Good product. Good value.

Re: 1929 closed cab pickup windshield mounting

There are a series of round head machine screws that attach the windshield hinge to the cab header. Wood screws are not used to attach the windshield in the CCPU.

Re: EvapoRust

Sometimes it is possible to take a digital picture of a subject and then enlarge the picture to show hidden details. Might be worth a try.

Re: touch up paint

Your best bet would be to take the car to a paint dealer of your choice and have them match the color. To do anything different could well result in other problems.
Good luck,

When the assembled manifolds are placed in the machining fixture prior to surfacing, they should be adjusted so that the surfaces are as level as possible. Is this leveling done with a machinists...

Re: Manifold machining

Thank you for your comments.
As I understand it, there are two "adjustable" supports under the manifold below the hold down clamps. If I were to design such a support I would have it threaded into...

Re: A and AA side mirror mounts

The mirror on early 1929 CCPU trucks was mounted above the upper hinge using the same fasteners as the LH side of the sun visor. This was the same location as used on the earlier AA trucks.

Re: rivet nuts vs d-nuts

You should be able to "fish" replacement "D" nuts into position and then weld or braze them in place. Try that before you experiment with the rivnut idea. A rivnut is installed into a round hole...

Re: pickup box mounting

I think that the easier way would be to install the wood (sills) on the bed rails and snug them into position. Once that is done, the bed, with the sills attached, can be placed on the rear of the...

Re: pickup bed wood

I misread the drawing dimension for the thickness. It should be 13/16. A dimension of 11/16 is way too thin. Thanks to Rusty for pointing that out.
