No plug. I may have missed it when I disassembled but I didn't see one. The end of the gear shaft is open.

Thanks for all of the input. I went with ni-copp from the sediment bowl/filter to the pump mounted on the frame and up to the regulator on the firewall. Then hose from the regulator to the carb....

I have a Revolution Electronics fuel pump controller on the way. It works off tach signals to keep pump running.

Thanks! After doing some searching this seems like it might be the best option. Just rework my panel to make it fit. Not just the hole size but maybe need to space it out due to depth also.

Uncle Max built my carb so I checked with him regarding the SnapBack spring. He thinks that it would be too much along with his already installed heavy accelerator pump fulcrum spring.

Ok, sounds like I have a plan. Dig up my old head nuts and lose the brass.

And yes I did check the manifolds with a straight edge. Could see no gap.
