Re: Question on car insurance

I have the vehicle under construction insurance with Hagerty and also have my
AA insured with them. They are going to want a few pictures of your AA. Give them a call, nice folks to deal with.

Re: 1928 AA flat bed truck with rare sign

I rebuilt one and a little over a year ago and installed it into my 29 AA truck. I really like it. They were made specifically for the TT and AA trucks. Perhaps for others too but if so I'm not aware...

Re: Front rope oil seal

I don't soak the rope seals. I do trim them some if they are what I consider overly long. However I don't trim them overly short as having the ends compress is important.

I do smear some RTV on...

Flooding in Germany

On the news there are reports of very severe flooding in Germany. I know that the flooding has impacted our fellow Ford Barn friend Werner's wife's business.
Hoping for the very best for Werner, his...

Re: Muffler Tail Pipe Attachment

If your not worried about staying original there are plenty of the modern style tail pipe hangers with the rubber isolator that can be adapted for use.
I have one on my AA and it works extremely...

Use a deal meat thermometer placed into the coolant to check the temperature.

Re: Radiator hot or not

You should be able to drive it for days, weeks or longer without having to add coolant.
Get a cheap dial meat thermometer, pull the cap off and test the actual coolant temperature by sticking the...

Re: Should I be worried about any of these noises?

Pull the radiator cap off and stick a dial meat thermometer in it to keep an eye on the temperature. Cheap, easy and will give you a good sense of what is going on temperature wise with your engine....

Re: Is my block dead?

Okay now that you have decided to go with using the J.B. Weld here is something that I do in a situation like yours where the J.B. will be clinging to vertical / underside of a surface.
J.B. Weld...

Re: Thought I had it!

Those gaskets should work fine. Put a straight edge on the face of the exhaust / intake manifolds to see if they are flat. I loosen the two bolts holding the intake manifold to the exhaust manifold...

Re: Is my block dead?

If it is a good runner clean up the crack with a wire wheel and J.B Weld it shut.
Looks like it is a freeze crack. If just external the repair will probably last a long time.
If it doesn't last...

Re: Knock Knock

Remove the starter and start it using the hand crank. If the noise is gone you've narrowed down the possibilities.

Re: Exhaust leak...BADDDD!!!

You might not need to get the additional gasket. Most A's don't have them installed.

Take it loose from the exhaust manifold and clean the mating surfaces well. Then place a floor jack under the...

Re: Longest trip yet...MPG suck!

Something that will probably help with you gas mileage is to stop using premium high octane fuel.
High octane fuel is designed to be harder to ignite. This is to reduce the tenancy for fuel to...

Re: Rough Day

Glad it was just a stud.

Drilling and using an extractor can work but if you break the extractor off in the stud then things get very troublesome.

I would suggest that you take the car to...

Re: My wife is a keeper

When I showed my wife pictures of the 29AA that I happened to find in a barn my wife said "I think you should buy it" Words I will never forget.

Re: Dead Horn Troubleshooting....

Nice car.

Glad you got the horn spinning again. To adjust just go one click of the adjuster at a time. You will get it sounding good.

Re: Dead Horn Troubleshooting....

Sometimes it is just a matter of getting it spinning again after a long rest. With the cover off and the horn button pushed take your finger and give the armature a push to get it moving. Often that...

Re: Intake & exhaust manifold torque

I guess I've never used a torque wrench on them. I use a 3/8" or 1/2" drive ratchet and working out from the middle tighten them a little at a time until they are snugged up. Then I check them a few...

Re: Radiator/ water pump

I don't think that you need to go the stop leak route just yet.
First off is your radiator cap gasket in good shape?
Are you by chance filling the radiator to the top (too full) and coolant is...

Re: Why in the H does the muffler not line up with the exhaust manifold?

I've had to open the bend up on some by placing it in my bench vice and giving it a serious tug or two. Also leaving the tail pipe clamp off or at least very loose during the installation will help...
