For watersealing or maybe to keep the bracket a little off from the paint.

Thank You very much,thats what I was thinking too,They probably didnt care about the paint under the bracket at the factory.

I think the cc between the holes for the handle is not the same,37 is a little wider.

I think I got it wrong,the the bigger brackets with two mounting holes are in the front and these two is mounted a bit further back.

Hi Bob,these are also attached on the fender lip but closer to the radiator for the hood side to rest on.

I had the same problem. My rubber hose was not made for using a bead to seal, I had to make a cone on the tube instead.

When I changed from the pullhandle to a 37 lock the holes did not align.As I remember the lock was wider,not much but enough.Maybe the holes for the pullhandle is different from a 36 lock too??

Howard,I had the same problem finding a dipstick when I put a Mercury pan on my 8ba,I just hope the threaded tube is the same lenght on all of the pans.

That car is a beauty. Can anyone explain how you measure the drop on an axle.Ive heard that if You have a 4" dropped axle you count this drop from a straigt axle.If you have a 32-36 axle it allready...

Hi Heard,The screws goes from the outside,throu the lip,that has some kind of a anti squeak material on it and into the clinch nuts in the dash.I think its supposed to be a paper or fibre washer...

Vern Tardel says that the best way is to drill a new mounting hole in the top lug of the newer box and relocating the steeringlock sleeve on the shaft.Sound easy.
