I'd suggest getting it to run on all 8 first, drive it and see what the plugs say. They may be correct .

ECG's are 1.54. I once worked on a '57 TBird 312 with a 1.43 shaft on the left and a 1.54 shaft on the right.

The spillover oil from lubricating the rocker arms is plenty to lube both the dist gear and timing chain. Tim McMaster shows this in a video he has of a running engine with pressurized rockers. More...

Yes you could. If you remove the assembly, make sure the oil feed hole from the head is feeding to the shaft through the shaft support. Check that the rocker arm oil holes in the shaft are clean ....

13.47 x Pi= 42.30 inch circumference. .125 dived by 42.30 = .0026. Which means your ring gear has to expand 2.6 % overall when heated.

For sale: 221, 260, 289 5 bolt manual trans bellhousing for early Fairlane, Falcon, Comet, or Mustang 1964 1/2 and earlier. Also big Fords with 260/289. Very good , clean condition.

x2 Ole Don. All that, plus clocking the rope seal 1/8 to 3/16 inch, sealer on every surface, soaking the seals before install and brushing aviation sealer on the inside and outside mating surfaces.
