Re: wheel studs
Call me old fashioned, but don't we use lug nuts on alloy wheels? The shank of the nut extends down the oversize hole in the wheel. It is not normally necessary to fit longer studs.
Like the Mag...

Re: German Ford Hubcap? Need identification.
While not identical, this 1956 Taunus 15M is sporting a simpler cap but it has the same central FK logo. If you look though, the car has wide 5s so it is the centre of a full wheel cover....

Re: eezibleed brake bleeder
I used the cap off a master cylinder that I bought from Rockauto. It is metal and has a secondary cap that screws in with a bleed hole in it. This part of the cap does not have a breather. I...

Re: Driveshaft won't come apart?
Burly, you have provided next to no information on this post.
It can be a problem withdrawing the axle/torque tube on these models due to clearance around the floor area.
Can you check all around...

Re: Interest in new restoration project thread?
It's ok, I guess.
Ha ha no, Mike, it looks fantastic and it's a credit to you and reflects all the hard work you have put in.
I love that the barn supports all the different levels of the early...

Re: Juice Brake Identity Wanted
The primary shoe is the one that forward rotation of the wheel pushes it against the pivot pin. As the pivot pin(s) are at the top the rear shoe is the primary shoe.

Re: Driveshaft won't come apart?
If you have good access you might be able to get a lever inside the joint and push the shaft out of the joint.
I was going to say take the axle out and leave the shaft in, but the axle will only...

Re: Juice Brake Identity Wanted
Along the same lines as Rich b's comment above, I have seen this conversion before and I think with a little more work it could be improved.
There would be 2 benefits:
1, The brakes would work as...

Re: How to drain coolant with no mess?
Bruce said it.
I tried it recently and it worked for me.
Watch this video.

Note the vacuum is just placed loosely near the neck, not a leak free connection.

Part 4 of Mart's crazy gearbox swap is up!
Yup! Made it to part 4.
Input shaft bush.
Clutch release snout.
Shift rod clearance holes.
And that completes the trial fit up of the trans to the engine.
Upcoming videos will focus on the...

Re: Flathead carnage
The flailing rod takes out the cam.
Had it happen on a 390 FE motor.
Rod broke and flailed around. Took out cam, hit piston and other end of rod sideways and took out the cylinder wall then exited...

Re: 40 pickup owners - measurement please
The wood does not come as far forward as the front mount. There is nothing between the mount and the frame, but it is normal to use some shims there as necessary to aid alignment. 1/16" or 1/8" is...
