Re: Ford Liquamatic auto trans in '41 Merc/Lincoln- has anyone seen one?

If you are a member of the V-8 Ford Club, there have been six articles written over time in the V-8 Times magazine about the Ford Liquamatic transmissions. Interesting reading on this monumental...

Re: What is this collection of parts worth? (1946 NOS)

Are you looking to sell the parts as a lot or do you want to sell individual pieces? Also where are the parts located?

Re: Source for gear shift knob threaded insert/reducer

Why don't you take a 5/8"x18 bolt and slice off a piece and drill and tap it for 5/16"x24?

Re: 28-32 N.O.S. shocks

The correct part numbers for Model A shock absorbers are A-18015-B and A-18016-B. The A-18015-B is a clockwise rotation shock for the right front and left rear. The A-18016-B is a anti clockwise...

Re: 28-32 N.O.S. shocks

Do the boxes that the shocks came in have part numbers on the boxes?

Re: 28-32 N.O.S. shocks

Just taking the Model A shock apart can be a real project. I have a 1/2" steel plate that I bolt the shock to and use a 3/4" drive, 3' breaker bar with a 1 and 1/2" deep socket to remove the flange...

Re: 28-32 N.O.S. shocks

The Model A Ford is a fairly complex part. It has ball checks, needle valves, vent plugs that have very small tolerances. I would bet that all the passages are clogged with the old glycerin oil that...

Re: Speedometer for 46 Ford Car

If you do try the repair yourself and I agree with others that say don't try it, do not use WD-40, use clock oil. Over time WD-40 will gum it up.

Re: Woodruff Key for Mercury Crankshaft

Any good, old time hardware store will have one, it's not special to Ford.

Re: making your own body trim clips

Restoration Specialties & Supply has just about any moulding clip you can need. I don't know what your's looks like but they have several listed for '40 Plymouth. They also have a great catalog.

Re: New Here 1941 Fire Truck

A pet peeve of mine! It's not a fire truck. It's a fire engine.

Re: Ma Bell's working woodie wagon?

Two "Woodie" commercial pictures that come to mind are of the Ansel Adams photographer on the roof of his 1941 Cadillac Station Wagon and Dorothea Lang, also a photographer, atop her 1933 Ford Wagon....

Tim, that's not how it works. All flea market spots come from the A.A.C.A.

Re: Hershey Stats

What get's me is the people on their golf carts "hugging" the flea market vendor tables and expect you to get out of their way so they don't have to get out of their cart. I'll stand their for 10...

Re: Electric powered Heater/AC question

With all you need to go thru for cool air, that cowl vent and roll down windows look pretty nice. Your '36 looks too nice to start drilling holes all over it to mount all the hardware.

Re: Electric powered Heater/AC question

Ggmac, that's my thinking. I can't imagine the amperage that is required to power that compressor. Unless I'm missing something, you will also need relays and heavy gauge wiring along with a new...

Re: Electric powered Heater/AC question

Steve, are you saying that the AC compressor is driven by an electric motor and not driven by a belt from the cars engine?

Re: Machine or Man ?

The reason it look's simple on a Model A is because those wheels are known as "drop center wheels". You could squeeze the tire into the recess of the wheel and it would give you room to remove the...

Re: Starter Locking Up

As RKS points out, the next time you have the starter out check the teeth on the ring gear. I had the same symptoms as you do and it was the ring gear.

Re: 41 woodie rear fenders

Excellent idea Deuce Roadster, as with the welting as it's applied, there is little waterproofing and water will migrate into the bolt's/nuts, when you wash the car, no matter how careful you are. I...

Re: 41 woodie rear fenders

I have seen several different types of nut's used for that application. The only requirement is that they clear the relief holes in the quarter panel, wood arch over the fenders. I also used "T"...
