Re: 8ba anti chatter bars

When I put the 8ba in my '39 p/u I didn't install anti-chatter rods. The clutch would chatter when backing up. I jury rigged some rods and instant no more clutch chatter in reverse. I had looked at...

Re: 55 Crown Vic

Butch's Cool Stuff sells a mount kit but you'll have to modify the trans mount for the AOD per the site....

Re: 8BA Truck Motor - Oil

Direct from the flathead experienced machinist who built the short block. Been several years and a couple of thousand miles and its still running like a top. Everyone has their own thoughts about oil...

Re: 1937 Ford Truck

My guess was it was a tonner but Ford did make some 3/4 ton flatbeds around the late 30's early '40's but don't know if they made them in the Jailbar years. Or it could have been a p/u that some...

Re: flathead mercury EAC engine info needed

Hard to tell from the photos but it appears that the engine has wide belts. If so its a 1949 Merc unless the pumps and related pulleys were changed from narrow belts to wide belts. If the belts are...

Re: 8BA Truck Motor - Oil

Before I rebuilt the 8ba in my '39 p/u I ran straight weight but after the rebuild I now run 20-50. Some people run diesel multi weight also. Its kind of up to you.

Re: Brake flaring tool & tube straightener suggestions

I bought this one from Eastwood on sale with free shipping IIRC. Haven't used it yet but it looks pretty nice and it had some good reviews....

Re: Battery purchase & best shut off location

I put a hidden master cutoff switch in my '39 p/u. I use it whenever I park it in the garage or if I'm out and about. I also use it at the 1 and only car show I go to. Its a family friendly event and...

Re: Header Suggestion

Second the recommendation for Red's. I bought all the engine parts from them when I rebuilt the 8ba in my '39 p/u. At the same time a buddy bought headers for his AV8 with an F series steering box....

Re: 1952 Ford Ranch Wagon VIN

No worse than Model A's using the engine number for the title. Replace the engine with another banger or make an AV8 and the only number to compare to what is on the title is on the frame under the...

Re: Seat springs: paint or no?

When I bought the Glide Engineering frame and springs for my '39 p/u everything was painted black. Considering what it cost it wouldn't have been right if it was bare metal.

Re: 1938 Flathead V8 Race Motor-What’s it worth?

Before I got drafted in 1971 I had a MGTD with a flathead 60 and a closed drive line rear end. Apparently that was an improvement over the stock MG 4 banger and a popular swap back in the day. I...

Re: 55 Fairlane New member/barn find

Depends on what YOU want. My banging gears and burning rubber days are past me. That said since the car has an automatic I'd go with a small block Ford and AOD trans. But that is just me. You could...

Re: Material for Ranch Wagon upper control arm splash guards

Found them at Macs. With 10 dollar shipping it was just about the same cost as buying bulk material and making them.

Material for Ranch Wagon upper control arm splash guards

Don't know the correct term but I'm looking for ideas of what type of material I can use to replace the brittle rubber like material on the upper control arm splash guards on my '54 Ranch Wagon. I...

Karl, thank you for your straight forward postings. While this issue is starting to spin away from approved Barn discussions it is VERY important IMO. Hopefully Ryan won't ban you for posting FACTS...
