Re: chrome paint bumper

It's not just you. I understand the dilemma but a little rust never bothered me as much as painted.

Re: 1965 comet 289

I believe if you go newer than 1973 block there is no clutch cross shaft hole in the block. The casting may be able to be drilled but when they went to lighter blocks in 80 that part of the casting...

Re: The GREAT Introducing Ms. American 3.14159 Caper

Nice to hear about Miss American, followed on FM until they changed passwords on me and gave me a 20 digit alphanumeric password.

Re: 56 crown vic glass top

Sad on the bogus plates. I would be wary of a new looking plate and premium price. The plate should look 60+ years old. If it was a new plate seller should have the old one or state there wasn't one...

Re: Bolt inside water pump

A short 6 point socket is a handy tool to have and short extension. Along with leaving everything untightened until the last bolt is home.

Re: 9 inch ford swaps

You can pour the correct amount of lube down the axle tube if you jack it up on one side. You will be ok unless you have a leak.

Re: 64 Galaxie w/manual steering hard to turn

I cannot remember where I pack ratted away the owners manual for my 64 Mercury Marauder. But it shows power steering wheels and manuals with the horn control. M/S had horn ring and was larger, rim...

Re: 64 Galaxie w/manual steering hard to turn

I had a 64 Marauder 390 4 speed car with manual steering and brakes. Car had rather plain looking steering wheel and horn button, found a park lane with power steering had a beautiful wheel so I...

Re: Q about padded dash condition

Don't quote me but if it has a seam in it I don't think it is original. I have never had a 60, but did have 56 58 63 64 65 still have 67 and 72 78. None have seams. A friend has a Mk III and Mk V...

Re: 1950 Car Permanently Lubricated/Sealed Bearings

If your doing bearing I would just line up a automotive shop that can do bearings in a press. They will pop off the retainers, the bearings are pressed on to afaik. Last ones I did from a 78 Bronco...

Re: Turn signals

They need to bring back the old tests, you can add throwing your arms up in the air at round abouts.

Re: Rebuilt ford 302 engine break-in question

If it's a new cam and lifters I would do what the cam manufactures suggest on the oil. I always do the prime the pump thing anymore and use Lubriplate assembly lube on bearings. When you do the...

Re: 64 Galaxie windshield wiper

Used to have a tool somewhere here. Lisle 65750 is about the closest. Leave wiper down, lay flat part of tool over arm pivot and the part with little fingers reach down and grip under back edge. Then...

Re: Please ID Car in family photo

Re: 1965 Thunderbird engine colors (etc.)

I don't think Ford used corporate blue in 65, 65 Galaxie 352 was gold and my 65 mustang with 289 was gold. Friend has a 66 mustang he bought new and it is the corporate blue.

Re: 8 month old 6V battery dead

Goodyear finally stepped up to the plate and started manufacturing RV tires again. Hasn't been a choice other than China or Taiwan for quite awhile. Maybe there is some hope someone will make a good...
