Can’t say about the armatures because I never put a starter together without checking it out .
I will say I have found a lot shafts that needed straightening .

Thanks to all for the help been trying to get penetrating oil around studs, I will keep soaking to I can get some movement in the head. Thanks again guys

Unhook F and flash quickly to B engine off. Do not use a jumper on B circuit (Ford)

Jseery, tried running it but head didn’t move. B& S suggest penetrating oil and wedges. I will take my time and try not to damage anything.thanks to all

Ford is B circuit, flash field to battery, Delco is A circuit, you can use a jumper from armature to battery

Ford is B circuit, unhook field & flash to battery, b circuit has field wire in middle on regulator. A circuit has field wire on end, you can use a jumper from armature to battery, quick jump

Are the special hole saw used to drill around studs still available any place. I was told they were made special for this purpose. I am working on 59A engine. Thanks.

Thanks 51 Merc, I read the post you directed me to but the only think I do know is that that plug does not go in far enough to effect the pressure relief valve

On 59A the rear has just a regular plug while the front is longer and stepped. Could someone explain the purpose of this style. Thanks.

They are soldered in and you will to solder in the replacement ones.
