Just one more question on this topic; if I have a clunk coming from this area, I believe it is the timing gear. Does it hurt to run the engine this way or will I just 'break down' and need a tow?

I just received a few old brake drums and my 1930 has a recessed inny ring around the neck, used for removing the drum. But one of the drums I just received has an outty.... a raised shoulder around...

Gents, I have owned my car for 15 years. I have had the rear drums off at least three times in the past. Never needed a puller..... loosen nut, drive down the street and back and pop, the drum comes...

I have a knock in the engine and have been told to remove the timing gear cover first just to inspect and be sure the knock is not from there.
