Re: Front fender cracking out

It’s likely not as much the fender as the braces and light bar.
But twisting the fender as needed could be in order.
I’m not sure you could identify any small area of the fender enough. And too...

Re: Front fender cracking out

“I purchased a set yesterday from Sam at Arizona Model A's, and his comment was that the front fenders are prone to cracking due to the design of the fender.”

There’s a lot of credibility in that...

Re: Front fender cracking out

What you are talking of doing is what’s been done for 90 years and basically is just bad wrong. The fenders crack because they are in stress. Do not know if you are referring to front or rear…..more...

Re: Engine paint

Brent’s explanation(s) make perfect sense.
The location and logistics involved in moving paint would preclude economic transport. Albeit, EPA and hazmat was not alive and kicking!

Re: 1931 Slant Windshield Fordor Firewall

There were non-indented slants….but not many. I’ve seen a very few that had wood sills. Again, not many.
Imho the slant fordors were the best of the model a line. Of course they had 4 years of...

Re: Wheel Well Patch Panels

Brazing is a @#?!
I just finished one that had more brass than I’ve ever seen. You basically have to cut out the brass and find good steel. It caused me to have to put 6-8” patches all around as...

Re: Wheel Well Patch Panels

I’ve done MANY wheel well patches. Cut out only the rot, to good Henry metal, and replace just that! It’s a huge mistake to cut out good metal.

Re: Briggs Town Sedan door latch question

Things got replaced in 90+ years..
Maybe (likely) not the original latch. I’ve never seen non-matching latches, etc in a original car…
Never say never

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine

You can scrap them now…or scrap them later. Especially, if it’s out of a car.
1 in 100 worth toting around.

Re: Briggs Town Sedan door latch question

JFrank…
Seriously? The latch has to be disassembled, wear repaired, new slide pin made , put back together and function. That particular latch is aggravating
Been there , done that

Re: Briggs Town Sedan door latch question

There is wear inside. Does it lift up to level and able to giggle it up and down to the lower droop? Usually takes welding and re-milling certain areas.
Could be a few other things. I’ve done many...

Re: What to spray onto metel immeditely after removing rust?

Bill Lee
Yes I often do the same.
Also, if you prime with epoxy and have to do subsequent body work, the stuff can be the dickens to get off. Especially, if shrinking involved. The Ospho is much...
