Re: Radiator Rodding Out

Tough job. You might find a shop that would do it. The problem with the A radiator is that a lot more wants to come apart when you are taking the top tank off.
If you still want to try it yourself,...

Re: overheating

Next time you get it warm, take the cap off and lug it in third gear. If you see bubbles, it is your head gasket or worse. Good luck.

Re: Wobbling Aluminum fan blade

Your tapers don’t match. Tightening the nut does nothing. Get a new fan that fits tightly on the shaft and matches the shaft taper. Don’t run you fan belt tight. As loose as possible that will still...

Re: Starting Issue - Need Ideas!

Drive a nail into the crimp between the wires of the cable and the negative battery connector. Corrosion can get in there and fool you. Either crimp it a lot more or use the nail trick.

Re: Steering Gear Box

My opinion: Big job because you have to put in a new worm gear along with a new sector. The wear is on the worm, on center and you can't adjust it out. Good luck.

Re: Rear spring and shackle bushing

A tiny piece of shim stock. You just want to keep it from rotating.

Re: "It ran well when I parked it!"

Take it on longer and longer trips and your confidence will build to the point that you are ready to drive it to Chicago. Just an old saying. Have fun.

Re: 29 coup rad

Sounds like your shell is being held high by something. The radiator fill collar, where the cap goes on, should stick up, well above the shell surface. Good luck.

Re: Pressurized Radiator

You are just asking for trouble. With a free flowing radiator, you won’t hav a cooling issue.

Re: Coolant level

You should not have to add coolant very often. If it keeps going away, you have a problem.

Re: Over Heating

90% of cooling problems are caused by a plugged radiator. 90 % is just my number.
Don’t fight all the band aids. Buy a new core and enjoy your car.

Re: missing or stumbling on acceleration

Make sure the fuel runs freely through the filter. Some need pressure to push the fuel through.

Re: Starter Problem - caught on fire

Bench test the starter. I bet it’s okay. The short sounds like it was between the switch and ground.

Re: Starter switch

Put it in third and push it to see if the engine rotates. If it won’t, push like hell backwards until you hear it free up. Don’t push forward. Good luck

Make sure you don’t have an intake leak at manifold and carb flange. Make sure. Sometimes hard to find.

Remove the manifold cover and clamp on a spray can top. Looks good and fits good.
