The easiest way to remove the plug on the rear main is to use a very blunt large center punch. Place the punch in the center of the plug and gently hit the punch until you make the plug concave...

mike657894- the F150 4 speed OD transmission came in the 84-87 Ford F150 2 wheel drive truck. The bell housing and rear plate for the conversion can be purchased from Mac's Speed Shop in New Zealand....

Cape Codder, my first question is: Are your absolutely sure that the engine is at TDC when your timing marks are aligned? How did you determine TDC when you set up the NuRex timing gauge?

Years ago for safety and night drivibility, I installed a Russ Evans look-a-like Model A alternator because I would be running halogen headlight bulbs and didn't like to looks of a modern alternator...

Royb; That's what I thought about using the Mac's flywheel, no need to shorten the input shaft. That's the extra 5/8" in the overall length. Thanks for the good words. I'm glad I was able to help.

Royb: Ten years ago I did my own F150 build/install using the AA bellhousing. I had to shorten the input shaft 5/8" to get the Tremec RTS to fit the AA bellhousing. You used the Mac's bellhousing....

Klaworkvet, to answer your question about F150 Tremec RTS 4 spd OD parts available from Mac's Speed Shop in New Zealand .... Yes they do make a bell housing and a rear adapter plate for the F150...

Carl, to convert the F150 transmission into a unit that with work in the Model A is not rocket science. Anyone with the equipment (lathe and milling machine) and the technical ability can do this...
