Re: Oil Extractor

Thanks everyone for the ideas and suggestions. I think I might give it a try. I can always use it on some of my more modern cars.
Does anyone have experience with an electrical extractor pump vs....

Oil Extractor

Now that I've become all crippled up in my old age, I have been spending time trying to come up with different methods of being able to service my cars.
One item that looks promising is an item that...

Re: Model A shocks

As Dick M said, John Holland in Ohio is the way to go.
Had him do my shocks in 2017 and 3000 miles later they are still doing their job. Before having them done, my Town Sedan was a real handful as...

Re: Why does it Lean?

I think Paul Shinn had a good idea on this subject. Every time you get out on the drivers side, go over to the passenger side and stand on the running board. If your springs are good, you will help...

Re: $56,000. Model A Speedster

Where are these buyer's when I need to off something???

I follow Bring A Trailer daily. It seems for the most part, vehicles on BAT, sell for a premium. Maybe it is just the excitement of the...

Re: New Gas

Here in the mountains of Central Commiefornia, we just posted $6.00 per gallon. Most likely we'll be at $7.00 before the end of the week.

Now I can understand how the rest of the world feels.

Muffler Heat Deflector

Did the Model A come originally with a muffler heat deflector?

Just found the source of my awful rattling sound thinking it to be the radiator rock shield which I just took off. Ended up being a...

Re: NAPA CS30 Points

katy, ndnchf,
That is what I needed to know. The points that I just put back in do not have those markings. I can not find any marks on them at all. They appear to have a plastic rubbing block. ...

Re: NAPA CS30 Points

katy,
The only thing I can come up with is the rubbing block must be made out of a poor material. My cam, which is also a "B" cam, is nice and smooth. The points that I took off, still have a very...

Re: NAPA CS30 Points

Does anyone have a picture of a set of original points? I am not talking about what is currently out there. I am talking about actual 1930's points.

The Napa/Echlin points that I purchased within...

Re: NAPA CS30 Points

The Echlin points that I bought a couple of years ago as back up fit well. The rubbing block looks like a cork material. What it's actually made of I have no idea. The rubbing block was toast in 612...

Re: NAPA CS30 Points

The NAPA, or should I say, the Echlin CS30 points, are the proper length of 1.210 from center pivot point to the center of the point contact. The material used for the rubbing block, looks like some...

NAPA CS30 Points

Purchased some points from NAPA a few months ago. Installed them in the car since I was having some issues that ended up being the pigtail wire once again.
Just went to set the point gap for the 3rd...

Re: Best/Cheapest 6V Battery Charger

Re: Advice requested

Hey Ron,
You rebuilt my Model T coils 16 years ago. Still going strong!
Hope you're still doing those great rebuilds on coils and generators.
Good luck with your latest toy.

Re: Stock shock links VS Dog Bone???

GeneBob,
When I got my Town Sedan, the left front shock link came off the car. Found out later that the PO had put the wrong direction shock on that corner. Also, if the cups are not properly...

Re: Battery Cables

I got some "O" gauge cables made up for my 49' Ford F1 a few months ago. Very well made and you specify the length and type of cable ends. I would certainly buy from this company again.

Re: NADA Pricing Guide

I find that Hagerty and NADA, come up with some pretty wild ideas in regards to value on some vehicles. While Old Cars Price Guide, is almost always on the low side. Seems like it depends on where...

Re: wrong rotor position

fordmerc7,
I think what you are saying is that your rotor pickup is sitting "between" the contact point on the distributor body. If that is the case, you have the distributor cam not set correctly....

Re: Accelerator Linkage Modification

chrs1961815, that is what I was thinking. However, the quadrant that is on this car from the PO appears to be aftermarket junk. The notches are minimal at best.

Big hammer, that makes some sense. ...

Re: Accelerator Linkage Modification

Thanks everyone for the advice. I will give it a try.
My only concern, if I break the accelerator shaft, are there new ones available, or am I looking for a used one?

Thanks again,

I was checking my linkage for my accelerator the other day and found that I was not getting full throttle. That might explain why I am only getting 45 mph with the gas pedal to the floor on my 30'...

Re: Changing coolant for the winter

I mix 1 gallon of coolant to 2 gallons of distilled water. That will protect you down to zero degrees Fahrenheit.
I live in the Tehachapi mountains in Central Comifornia. I think you would be good...
