Re: Flathead machine shop in Tennessee

Pat Robinson in West Paducah is a great engine machinist. I've seen a few flatheads there over the years, but Pat is in his 80's and has been in bad health lately and may not be accepting work. He...

Re: Backfire

Sounds like distributor cap and or wires/connections.

By the way, my dad bought his only new car ever [for his own use] in 1954. It was an ohv 239 Y-block, custom line, tudor sedan for about...

Re: Lifting a 8ba engine

Nice charts, Fordy. It's amazing to think how strong steel actually is. A grade 8 5/16" bolt could easily lift a full size car!

Re: Dad's secret (sorta) project coming together

A friend's dad, back in the 50's, had a "Jeep" that he said was a Ford. Actually had a Ford tailgate on it. I always assumed it was legit. Anyone else seen a Ford tailgate on a Jeep?

Re: No reverse BW R-10

Way to go, bud. Like my Mamma says "Don't ever quit!" Ha Ha, she's almost 99 and hasn't quit yet!

Re: No reverse BW R-10

Bad solenoid? Have you actually tested it's operation by applying voltage? It has to be working to lock out the OD sungear/clutch.

Re: Let me ask another way

You might try switching the polarity to the rear bulbs. LEDs only work when wired in one polarity direction. That is the nature of a diode.

Re: Risk of using old (over 10 years) tires

I had a friend who was bringing his very nice diesel pusher motorhome back to Kentucky, after wintering in sunny Florida. His wife and her twin sister were with him. He blew a front right tire,...

Re: first drive after a loooooong slumber and shes making a bad noise.

The shuddering sounds like the clutch grabbing from a rusty flywheel, possibly. The grinding could also be rust on the brake drums, which should have quietened after a couple of uses of the brakes.

Re: '36 Radiator - looking for shop suggesting in South-Central PA or source for new

Hey Yoyodyne, Do you happen to know of a garage in or around Lancaster, Pa. that was/is run by Al McMichaels? I knew him and his wife from Ft. Myers Fl, while wintering there.

Re: Brakes

Please make sure your return spring is returning the pedal to the top of it's travel when bleeding. If it doesn't that makes it nearly impossible to bleed off air through the master cyl.

Re: Car Shakes

It could easily be a bad tire. They will balance out even if they are not round. How old are your tires?

Re: can't access passenger rear exhaust manifold bolt

You might consider loosening your transmission mount(s) and jacking up the rear of the engine slightly.

Re: Pressure-Sealing Blocks

My son threw a rod through the block on a 5 HP Briggs racing kart in the 90's. Since we already had quite a bit of money in that engine, I epoxied the hole with clear J B Weld. That engine ran quite...
