Re: Model A Improvements

Synchromesh transmission, open drive shaft, seat belts, more accessible crankshaft pulley and timing gear, pushbutton starter--most of these not a big deal but you asked.

Re: crank shaft housing stripped can't align nut to dimple to time car

Nice revamp of the combo wrench, you should market this as those the vendors sell are junk--they bend. I was lucky enough find a vintage Ford crankshaft wrench (1900-Z-??) on ebay for $40.

Re: Worst Cars of All Time

Don't forger Ford Taurus, a true throw away after 50k miles, head gaskets, transmissions, motor mounts. Otherwise a really nice car, had 2 at the same time 92 and a 93. Kept me in the poor house...

Re: What the...$1000+ for a motometer ???

Whatever the market will bear. A lot of the items on ebay are ridiculously overpriced. I know a person who has made a lot of money selling on ebay. Most of what he sells is overpriced but he just...

Re: Turning Model A Rear Brake Drums

Another thing to consider is how thin are the drums going to be after turning them. I had one of my drums turned. It was okay, then took the other side off and discovered it was in really bad...

Re: Clutch Pedal Free Play

I'm aware of the other problems that are more likely to cause the transmission to jump out of gear. The transmission/shift tower is a rebuilt one from well known supplier. I was not real happy with...

Clutch Pedal Free Play

Is it possible that not enough clutch free play could cause transmission to jump out of 3rd gear when slowing down. I sometimes notice some slight movement in the shift lever when idling in neutral....

Re: Flywheel housing

Unless I missed it, removing the flywheel COULD BE a problem for someone new to this work. I use a block of wood and lightly tap it loose through the starter hole as I rotate the crank. Any other...

Re: Scammer warning

I don't want to say the police aren't doing anything. They respond, fill out the paper work and that's pretty much it, at least as far as my experience was concerned. My wife's credit card was...

Re: Scammer warning

Police can't keep up with local crimes much less chase down internet scammers. I recently moved from a city of 600,000 plus. If your home was broken into, car stolen or you got rammed by someone...

Re: Engine install with transmission

I agree with these suggestions. Additionally, I recommend using a frame spreader and making sure the transmission is in neutral--saves having to rock the car or turning the engine to make the...

Re: What's the latest you can remember anyone using an A?

We lived on a farm in Nebraska in 1949. My older sister and a few other farm kids were picked up every morning and transported to kindergarten in a Model A. My 1st grade teacher drove a Model A...

Re: Installing Battery Disconnect Switch in 1931 Coupe

Under the hood for mine using the available Snyder starter mounted bracket. Cables remain underneath, easy to access, no cutting holes or other modifications. I have a late 31 s/w so have to open...

Re: Insurance

I too have Hagerty and agree that it is reasonably cheap. That's all well and fine but I'd like to know what other's experiences have been when they had a claim. I haven't had a claim and hope not...

Re: Membership dropping, interest too???

Matchbox, unfortunately I have to agree with you. While my Model A club is fairly active, it seems to be waning. Newer members tend to be older but also a few younger ones (under 50). I attribute...

Re: Why would you waste your money on that Model A

Best way to deal with people like your neighbor is to ignore them. You're wasting your time trying to debate with them, its like wrestling with a pig in a mud wallow. They love it and when its all...
