Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

So you see the coolant loss out the top of the radiator - onto the grill? If so, then one has to ponder where it is all going.

On my V8, it will puke water when I overflow it, but once it...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris - loved the picture. There is something about sitting in one of these old cars and looking over an ancient hood and fenders as you go down the road. Just brings warmth and comfort to the...

Sounds great Chris! Glad you're having some decent weather. I'm out in South Dakota and we just got another 6 inches of snow today and may get over a foot on Monday/Tuesday. I keep waiting for...

Here is to 32 Fords and Waffles . . . with Chris' syrup on them (well the waffles anyway!).

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Looks like your new engine is really running well! Doesn't that just make you feel like a big kid again? I love new engine starts - like a scary Christmas! Have a great Thanksgiving.

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris, the engine sound like it is running really well! Hopefully your roads get dry and you can take the ole' girl out for a spin soon.

BTW: I like your 'flat black' alternator . . . does...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Looking good Chris - I bet you can't wait to start it and take it out again! It makes me happy to see those lights on your truck - they belong on there and they make the front-end look as it should....

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Learned something new today! I would have never known about those dang 'shims' unless I'd read this. Funny that Ford would do such a thing . . . did they come 'stock' on these engines?

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Think of a 'thread' as an initial post/question that starts the conversation . . . and then folks continue to comment/add additional posts. Just like I'm adding another post that is attached to the...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris, on the head studs - make sure you seal them on the coarse end into the block. I usually use ARP PTFE stud sealer, but there are other brands that work as well. I usually let them "set up"...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris, you can buy really nice cloth covered wire from Brillman - by the foot. I usually buy an assortment of colors/gauges and the nice woven coverings.

It doesn't really cost that much to...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Come on Chris . . . the vote in in . . . Ford Greed! LOL Hell, paint it any darn color you want - it is your engine and your truck (just don't show it to anybody if it is not Ford Green). ...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

I think I'd go the standard Ford green, with all the other parts black as Henry did them. Heck, I'd even paint the outside of the alternator - such that it doesn't stand out so much! LOL

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Good looking truck! I know what you mean about how they used to ride. My Uncle and I decided we needed a "hunting rig" to take from SD to CO for deer hunting season.

The rational was, that he...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris - would that have had a Big-Block Ford GAS engine in it? If so, that sucker will drink the fuel! LOL. Come on now . . . get the pictures up here!

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris: You're doing the right things - especially by recognizing that "something is not right" and not just throwing it together or manhandling it with a breaker-bar. Then telling yourself "it...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris - you're doing the right thing in tearing it apart. If it was mine, I'd surely ask the dang machine shop why they didn't mic the bearings BEFORE they ground the crankshaft?

You can't...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris: I don't know a thing about B motors, but it looks to have a big rubber "slinger seal" on the back? Am I seeing that correctly? What can you tell me about it?

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris - was wondering why the bearing shells are covering up part of the oil feed hole? Can't tell on the middle and front? (can't see them). Normally, when I'm building any type of engine, I...

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Hey Chris - I can't remember, are you running it on 6 volts or 12 volts? If it is a 6 volt starter that is being ran on 12 volts, then the RPMs and load this creates (while really turning the engine...
