Re: Gas Sending Unit

You might already know it, but the gauge and sending unit have to match. The gauge advertisement will tell the ohms required from the sending unit. If you have done that, excuse the post.

Re: UPS loses Package !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

USPS has evidently changed their employment practices since the days of dependable service. My postal person says that they make him take a break in service every so often, evidently to qualify as...

Re: #4 Piston Removal

I bought a running '57 Ranchero with a 292 back in the 70's. It had a little light tap in the top end. I ran the engine for quite a while. Then one day I was driving about 65 mph and suddenly I heard...

Re: 36 Ford drag link orientation question

I have the same oil pan in my '38. With the steering box centered and the drag link connected, there was very little left-turn movement allowed. As The pitman arm moved toward the pan, the drag link...

Re: Don Orasco Selling Out Question?

That might have been the IRS version of the sale price.

Re: Idler Arm Bushings

I changed mine a few years ago. The loose link made it wander as the toe-in changes. Instructions were in the box. I think the only torqued piece is the bushing that screws into the steering center...

Re: 52 f1

Instruction say to plug the line from the carburetor. There shouldn't be any vacuum on the line at idle, but it only takes a second to block it. The vacuum source is removed from the advance...

Re: Replace Flathead with Y-Block?

It appears that the Wilcap 600WA adapts the early flathead transmission to the Y-block

Re: 39 ignition key

There is a dimple on the lock cylinder. Line the dimple up with the set screw in the column drop. You might have to rotate the key for alignment.

Re: 8BA compression issues

When you pull the intake and check the valve clearance you should know more about stuck valves. If valves are stuck the clearances should be more than spec.

Re: No reverse BW R-10

you deserve the credit for sticking with it. Many would have given up and installed a standard 3-speed.

Re: 1952 customline gas gauge reads near full

I used a common sealed plastic gas can. Didn't smell any fumes while I carried it. I don't carry a spare tire and it fit snuggly in the spare tire well. Yeah, I know the potential dangers.

Re: No reverse BW R-10

I keep looking at the guide from the case through the hole in the pawl. It looks crooked like it might be creating a drag in the hole in the pawl. Maybe it is just the photograph, but It should not...

Re: 1952 customline gas gauge reads near full

Just a suggestion from experience with these sending units: Just because it reads close to accurate at one level, don't depend on it to tell you when it is about out of fuel. I haven't had one to be...

Re: banjo steering wheel

I wanted to put a column shift in my '38 coupe. If you put a banjo wheel against the top of a '40 column you will quickly see that it will look goofy. I didn't install the '40 column to see if it...

Re: No reverse BW R-10

The only other suggestion I have it to call Van Pelt. He has a reputation for being helpful, especially if you bought parts from him.

Re: No reverse BW R-10

If you have the rear lever in the "locked out" position you should not be able to turn the output shaft in any direction without moving the input shaft while in any gear except neutral. While in...

Re: No reverse BW R-10

Use something to hold the output shaft firmly. It could be internal friction moving the shaft in reverse.
