Re: 11-39, 3:54 to 1
I had a 3:54 in a 29 fordor and loved it. I'm in NC (east)and had no problems with the hills here. The engine seemed happier also. 3:27 is too high for a worn engine.

Re: Temp gauges for the A
I use a modern temp gauge I got at a cheap parts store. Works great. You can take out the 12 volt bulb and install a 6 volt if you want. Saves alot a worry. I know "Henry" didn't put one in the car....

Re: Winter upholstery project done
Very good tool. I wish I'd seen this earlier. I have small holes in the fabric where I nailed a panel. I'm hoping that someday they will shrink and go away. I even took a steame and went lightly...

Re: shock conversion
I also have the Ken Davis shock set-up. I think it is great. Handles fantastic. I have plenty of movement in the suspension. The shocks are the ones he has in the kit.

Re: baffling loss of oil UPDATE
I was told by an old Model A friend that a road draft tube on a Model A meant it had too much blowby. He said to never buy a Model A with one of them on the engine.

Re: 'Restoration'..definition Q
A good friend of mine told me that very few Model A's are restored these days. Most are rebuilt. I know I rebuilt mine, not restored.

I have the pump that is sold as being for the weber carb. It comes in either 6 or 12 volts. The major venders have them. It doesn't need a regulator.

I just added a car to my Grundy policy. I had no problem once I got to the right site. If you go to Grundy Antique Car Insurance you will go to the wrong site. It makes you think you have to have...

Re: Transition from 7 to 2 tooth steering
The 29 wheel used on the 2 tooth gear was a keyed wheel. The 28 wheel was splined. That made the late 29 wheel different from both the 28 and 30-31 as the the 28 and keyed 29 wheels looked the same...

Can I use the model A lug nuts when I install 16" wheels? If not, will modern lug nuts do the job? Thanks in advance.

Re: Hot water heater installed-questions
You could do like the truckers. Cover part of the radiator with something like cardboard. Experiment with how much you need to cover to get the 160's to hold steady.

You really need to go to the "HAMB" site for that question. This is a strictly stock Model A site.
