Look for traces on the sheet metal somewhere.Ford vin numbers of that period did not have color codes in them,TMK.

I did a '35 roadster top irons many years ago.Yes to do it right it has to all come apart.At the time I had Ezra Welding reassemble them as they need to be riveted together.They no longer are...

An original locking knob/handle also solves this problem and secures valuables-dual purpose.That is what I did on a '35 roadster I once owned.

Lawrie, The first one is 41-47.The black one is 35-36,since its just a housing its hard to tell if its 35 0r 36 .The last one is '35 with the bulls eye toggle.

The 34 BB has a drop like a '32 or at least the ones I have seen.That why.
Here are pics of a mechanism which is 36-37. As you can see the shaft is round,not like a '32 or the '35 that uses...

I don't recall ever working on a '35 with the bulls eye toggle but the classic '36 an '37 and neither had that plate or they were missing from the get go.

Terry,There are no provisions(slot) for the plate in all the 33-34's I have done,maybe 4.In the 35-37 neither. I can see why its used in the '32 because if not when the key is turned that tab keeps...

I have only seen them on '32's and rebuilt a few of them.I don't remember the '33- 37's I have worked on had that guide plate.On the 33-34 the lever is on the outside and not in a slot.Maybe someone...

That plate with the tab is necessary on the 32's to keep the lever itself in its vertical stationary position.On the '32 lever collar there is a slot that that tab goes in.
