I bought a Schumacher when I read a similar thread on Ford Barn a couple of years ago and I thought I would try one, even tho I have always used Deltran battery Tenders in the past with no problems....

Well first off the OP said the only wiring is the ignition circuit so he shouldn't have to look too far. Second if he does as you suggest and does have a short he will be putting 6 volts directly...

No, there most certainly is a black wire. The black wire is for the tail light as Ruth stated. The tail light is on anytime the light switch is not in the 'off' position.

I don't have a solution for but what i did is put the worst wheel for the spare, the two straightest on the front and then installed dyna-beads in all five tires. Seen to help.

AA Trucks have left handed threads on the dually rear wheels . And yes, Chrysler products also had left handed threads on one side and right handed threads on the other.
