Re: Gas tank clening?

If you have a way to look past the baffles I would check it out further. The other options would be to put some gas in and slosh it around in every direction to see if any rust particles show up. ...

Re: commercial color list for 1929

Here is the paint that was left on the tank and inside of the cowl, on parts of the bed and under the hood. More Blue with with a little green.
These sat out in a pasture until the 1960's and since...

Re: commercial color list for 1929

Here is what was left of the original color on the tank and inside of the cowl. Dad pulled the pickup out of pasture in the late 1960's so I cannot say it was the factory applied paint.

Ok...

Re: commercial color list for 1929

I am going to have some color mixed to match the old pyroxylin paint sample book my dad gave me that is from the late 50's. All the other colors from the old book are similar to the new MAFCA color...

Here are the Dupont and PPG Gunmetal blue with a black stripe for reference. Photos taken on a cloudy day, sunshine and in the shade.
Dupont is pea green, ditzler is more gray
The other hood is...

Re: commercial color list for 1929

Bob,

I had read that before too, so I figured it was built on the later frame with 1929 sheet metal.
I talked to dad and he thinks that the hood, tank, cowl and door posts with floor, and the...

Re: commercial color list for 1929

Chris,

When I looked up the frame number the engine was manufactured in OCT 28 1929, but the frame has the later 1930 cross member so I was figuring a December build, but it could be November? ...

Re: commercial color list for 1929

Chris,

From the frame number it is a late - probably December 1929. It has the 1930 front cross member and 2 tooth steering gear. Fenders and radiator/shroud 1929.

Re: Anyone restored a E28/AR RPU?

I know this is an old thread, but is there a way to read these articles about RPU's online or just run across some one's old magazine collection?

Thanks!

Re: 29' RPU doors

I just wish the Judging standards had more information on the roadster and closed cab pickups. There was a lot of great information on the larger commercial AA, etc. but next to nothing on the small...

Re: commercial color list for 1929

Hey I had another question - was black an option? I don't see it listed in the MAFCA for any commercial vehicle year.

I am probably going with Rock Moss Green or L'anse Green.

I could not...

Re: rootlieb hood quality

I can fix the hood, it will take probably 30 hours labor, which would equal more than the cost of a Rootlieb hood.

Thanks for the responses, I just wanted to hear from people with 1928-29...

A local model A club member told me there is an issue with the Rootlieb hoods...

Re: Top bow irons difference in 29 and 30 Roadster Pickup

Re: Top bow irons difference in 29 and 30 Roadster Pickup

Chris, that is what I need (28-29) too!

If anyone has a 29-29 and can measure the front width at the windshield and the length of the supports that go down to the body that would help a lot.

Thanks for the help!

I just want to make sure before I buy the set. My...

Re: Top bow irons difference in 29 and 30 Roadster Pickup

I measured the width at the back and it is 51 inches on the top irons. The width of the tub where the top irons attach is 51 inches so I am thinking it should be for a 28-29 roadster pickup.

Top bow irons difference in 29 and 30 Roadster Pickup

I found a nice used top bow for a model A roadster pickup, but I do not know what the difference if any is between a 1929 and 1930 roadster pickup top bow/irons.
