I would rather not just replace parts if not necessary.
I have done that in the past and found that the new parts didn't achieve any better results.

Yes..I looked with a beam of light yesterday and they appear to line up. But I don't have a crank, so I'm not 100% sure.

Also I don't understand where to measure.
Square adjusting nut to top of king pins differ by a fat 1/4" from pass side to driver...

The bolt is through the king pin in the only location it can go. .
That puts the top of the spindle / king pin in a set location.
That what has me puzzled.

I have attached 5 photos showing the top of the king pins in relation to the brake adjusting nut.
On the passenger side the clearence is about a 1/4 ".
On the driver side I barely have room...
