Re: Wanted: Fender Welting

Are you sure about that jayvee? Last thing I got from any of the mainsteam parts suppliers was simply a cheap plastic replacement. Not the original woven type.

Re: Town Car Deliveries

Like the term "French Judging", that makes me laugh. Really, there is no more beauty than when you can see that something is brought back to exacly the way it was. There is an own beauty in the...

Re: Cabriolet Top Installation

Hmmmm....

The original posters' question was about tips for top installation. I have not tried to use a TIG welder for installation of top material, but I think I will abstain for the time...

Re: Cover Screws for Trico Vacuum Wipers

Thanks for your quick reply Kurt,

May I infer from your answer that you also have some original wipers with the larger heads ?

If so, were they only the TR-C1, like what would be correct for...

Cover Screws for Trico Vacuum Wipers

I have noticed that there are two versions of the screws holding the top lid to the bowl on the Trico vacuum wipers. I have studied the top cover screws on some original TR-C1 wipers. The “top hat"...

Re: 68B Cabriolet Front Folding Irons - Angeled or Straight ?

Kevin,

I completely agree that the Ford parts tolerance and assembly procedures could not have been sloppy. It must have fit well together without any need for manual adjustments. Anything else...

Re: Town Car Deliveries

JB,

Seems that you are in possession of detailed information on the production of these bodies at the Briggs plant.

Please post some of this material here for information.

While very few of...

Re: Town Car Deliveries

I actually sent him a PM to alert him about the discussion here, however his last Fordbarn post was in 2018 and on VFF , in 2019, so chances that he will pick it up are probably small

Re: Town Car Deliveries

Thanks, that makes sense, and seems to correspond to what is in the body parts list (see lines highlighted in photo) However, there is no mention of a Left-hand vs Right-hand part.

It seems next...

Re: Town Car Deliveries

One thing that puzzles me when I look at the rear body of the TCD, is that the metal appears to be one continuous sheet metal stamping all the way around the rear body from door to door. I believe...

Re: Cabriolet Top Installation

First I would do is to check the top bows and make sure that they have enough "crown" and are not sagged or are new bows modeled after sagged originals. The no. 2 bow should have a steel...

Re: Town Car Deliveries

Anyone in the know of Town Car Deliveries that could answer my question ?

The "Ford Model A as Henry Built It" book states that the town car delivery had an all aluminum body.

I would assume...

Re: Parts that don't fit

I found the same thing, that the ones sold by the ordinary Model A vendors were too high. Read somewhere that Bob Drakes repops were recommended. Got a pair of them, and found they were...

Re: Vacuum Wiper Parts

For both springs the coil diameter is 127/1000" and the wire diameter is 18/1000"

For the original wiper, the spring length is 0.66", and for the replacement wiper, the spring length is 0.47"

Re: Vacuum Wiper Parts

You need to tell us which wiper you've got.

The original ones (TR- series) takes a long spring for which I have not seen any replacements. For the later replacement wiper (TCX-series) which takes...

Re: Model A decklid/ rumble seat lid bumper

The bumper seems to high, which I believe to remember was the case with what I could buy from most of the ordinary suppliers. I believe that I finally bought the correct height bumper from Bob Drake

Re: Model A Town Car?

Brad,

Add a 1930 hood. I wonder how they got that to fit....

Is it possible to determine if the radiator shell is 28/29 or 30/31. Are there any more pictures ?

Also, is it possible to make...

Re: Model A Town Car?

I think your assumption that the body sat around until 1930, seems very plausible Bob.

Indeed a strange animal.
